Cyberfusion 2009: Malaysia Is Now The World Champion!

What more can I say? Cyberfusion 2009 is now officially the longest running LAN Party in the world! We have 274 participants with 40 hours, we were +71 more participants and +4 hours than the previous record set by nVision in 2008.

Everything was going fine through out the event, with minor hiccups such as people torrenting and downloading which cause the line to be unstable. There were 14 people being disqualified for most of the reason was because taking too long breaks. Even 1 min late is not allowed. Thats how strict the rules enforced.

The foods, well it was just okay. Not really much to be excited about. Only get to eat KFC/Pizza Hut after all is over.

Everyone was okay through out the event right until we reach 30 hours. Almost everyone having difficulty to stay up. Some even were caught napping while playing. The most epic was this pics:

Cyberfusion 2009 To Break The World Record

I were invited to join and witness the official launch of Cyber Fusion 09 at Cyberjaya Cyberview Lodge. I have to say that the scenery was stunning and i couldnt imagine that a beautiful resort exist in Cyberjaya. Its like a collaboration between technology and mother nature.

The press conference was held to officially announce Cyber Fusion 09 with the concept of One Nation Invitational. So what is Cyber Fusion? It consist of 3 parts:

1. A Guinness World Record Breaking Attempt For The Longest Running LAN Party in The World.

Currently the record was 36 hours with 203 participants. This time they are aiming for 38 hours with 250 participants. I think this should be "kacang putih laa" for all of Malaysian gamers eh?

2. MMU GDC Gamefest 09

With more than RM10k prizes to be won, expect gamers to participate in games such as Counterstrike 1.6, FIFA 09, DOTA and Call Of Duty 4. Though do note that those who join most probably would not be able to participate in the LAN party since both are separate event.

3. Digital Games Exhibition

Of course the spectators wont be left out during the event. There will be tons of games developer showing off their best games titles that they can offer. So you wont be bored when you're there.

Hi everybody!

We are here to invite everyone to join Spotgamers at Youth 09 Festival, the largest youth festival in Malaysia more than 50000 people and over 100 activities to participate.

Spotgamers have been invited to join up with the other youth community around Malaysia in the Youth 09 Festival 9-11 January at PWTC. This is the chance for the gaming community to get the exposure and also maybe even future contacts to help the gaming community grow.

What is Youth 09?

YOUTH'09, Malaysia's largest youth lifestyle event[/B] is a 3 day festival to be held on 9th-11th January at the Putra World Trade Centre, bringing together youth communities from all over Malaysia for a range of exciting activities. Themed "Malaysia's Largest Youth Lifestyle Revolution", 50,000 young Malaysians aged 16 to 28 from different backgrounds and youth communities will be coming together to organize and participate in over 100 activities involving fashion, dance, music, entrepreneurship, personal growth, career and other youth interests.

FIFA 09: Newbie Here!

Many people ask me, what should they do in this new version? what should they practice? should they go through the level difficulty step by step or just skip and play the hardest? Usually when it comes to new version, we all always ask this type of question.

There are actually 2 ways to start on new version:

Newbie In FIFA

This method is for those who never play FIFA before. The best way to get to know the game is by going step by step through the difficulty level. Yes i know it might make u bored but this is the best way. Everytime you level up you will notice the difference in terms of attacking and defending. From here try to observe on what the AI tends to do. Usually what the AI can do you can do it too.

Experience In FIFA

For those who play FIFA 08 previously, what i personally do is to try to experiment the high efficiency move in 08 into 09. Then 1 by 1 i will research which moves/combo that is still effective and can be done in 09. By doing so you can still keep your precious style in 08 and create a new one in 09.

I have to admit that in FIFA 09 there is plenty to learn. Though its almost similar to previous version but they have improvised a lot of changes in it. So expect some unbelievable move to pop out later on.

I, Rinie "Si_Jali" Ramli Resign From W|nDs Clan

First of all I would like to say thanks to Allah SWT for giving me this opportunity to live up my dream through W|nDs. Also would like to say thanks to Nigel who invite me, guiding me, and giving me advice in the competitive gaming scene. Not to forget my fellow W|nDs mate who has been through a lot together in joy and sadness. All of you guys are truly the best and will always have a place in my heart.

My departure from W|nDs was not a decision I made in just a few weeks. It wasn’t an easy decision for me as well. There were too many memories in W|nDs that I cherished and will never forget. But the decision I made was base on my analysis of the current situation undergoing in my life, in W|nDs and in the gaming community as well. I am attach to many responsibilities and I feel that its time for me to move on and experience new adventure that patiently awaits me. With great power comes great responsibility. I owe a lot to the community and its time for me to do my part.

Will my departure be good or bad to me? Would it affect W|nDs and the FIFA community? I don’t know. There are many things I myself couldn’t answer but all I know is even with my departure judging from the history of both W|nDs and the FIFA community, things are always gonna look positive even if the odds are not that good. History proved itself that no matter what happen, the FIFA community will always grow.

Although I resign from W|nDs, that doesn’t mean im going to stop competing. I will still compete to achieve my dream as the no.1 FIFA gamer in the world. That I can promise you. Will I create my own clan or remain independent? Only time will tell. But I’m interested to continue my youth project outside of W|nDs. And of course if there is a very very good offer like million gazillions dollars joining other clan then why not. Remember, only million gazillions dollars ok. LOL

It is not easy for me to write this. The thought of resigning are too hard for my small brain to handle. At times my hand stun and my legs numb. I feel like im floating in the air. And I don’t know where this would lead me. But I always believe in following my heart.

My resignation was not influence by certain people or has not been thought carefully. The decision was solely my own decision. I believe many of you guys know that im the type which always make my own decision.

I wish everyone all the best in the future. It was an amazing adventure and a journey which I will tell my children and my grand children and my grand grand children. (if i live that long of course or if I ever get married).

From now on, I, Rinie “Si_Jali” Ramli resign from any position in the management of W|nDs as well as a member of W|nDs.

WCG GF 08: Korea Overall Champ, Malaysia Dream Over

The Malaysian dream ended up 2 days ago when our NFS Pro Street Player, H3aven lost in the top 16 bracket against home team Germany ATTaX_Sliver. The rest of the team had a good fighting spirit but failed to qualify from their respective group. Favourites to qualify from the group, [W|nDs]Vin and UCPRO.LZ only manage to get 3rd in their group. Kudos to them for their never give up fighting spirits although the odd seems impossible.

Korea manage to clinch the title as the overall champion with an amazing medal tally of 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze. While USA and host country Germany both get a medal tally of 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze putting them 2nd and 3rd respectively.

On other notes, our neighbour from Singapore proved the contribution effort done by SCOGA worthwhile when they clinch 1 Gold from mobile game Asphalt 4 and 1 Silver from Virtual Fighter 5. Maybe its time Malaysia too taken the steps to bring up the mobile games into our gaming community.

Overall, it has been 8 years now and we still failed to prove ourself worthy to be called The Best. What keeps us from improving? Why are we still at the same place since 8 years ago? The question still remains and the answer still unfound.

Preparation For WCG Asia 08

Hi guys! Sorry for the long absence. Have been very busy with preparation for WCG Asia 08. For this purpose, i will be taking a few days off from The FIFA Blog to get ready for the tourney of the Kings Of Asia!

In case you didnt know, WCG Asia 08 is a tournament where each country in Asia will send representative from each game to compete to be No.1 in Asia and bragging rights among the best of the best in Asia.

Attacking: Secret In Positioning

Positioning is one of the key to a successful attack. Players out of position couldnt harm the defense much. But not many people actually know that 1 player position will create a breakthrough for his team.

For example:

Bad Position

If the midfielder pass too early to the wingback, the opponent defender will mark the winger. So the attack stop at the wingback and thus could not release the winger for a devastating attack.

But if the player is smart and wait till the wingback in a good position like below:

Good Position

The defender will auto mark the incoming wingback thus leaving the winger empty. The wingback can just turn and pass easily letting the winger to be free and gone like the wind.

Although it seems to be simple but many like to pass the ball around without taking into consideration on the position. 1 simple pass with good position can destroy the entire team defense system.

So dont just pass the ball around until the end. Play beautiful football ^^

Attacking: Direction Through Passes

Through passes is a feature that was introduce in FIFA 03 or FIFA 04 if im not mistaken. In the previous version before 03 all the passes are the same. Its either you do a straight pass or a curling ball.

Now one thing nice about through passes is it is powerful. You can charge up the power and do a powerful through passes from one end to another. Plus the benefit of through passes is you can caught your opponent by surprise. Its direct powerful approach makes it suitable for fast play with fast striker.

Now there is a trick in through passes. Through passes was created in order to release the player in a running motion. Instead of the ball pass directly to the player, in through passes the ball being played to make sure the striker will run and get it leaving the defender a few pace back.

One of the trick is the through pass must be send according to the intended player's body motion. For example:

Red Arrow Indicates The Direction Where The Striker Is Facing

As you can see, the ball was pass according to the direction where the striker is facing. By doing so, the striker will auto run to get the ball and keep him in a running motion which give him space to do whatever necessary in that position.

In order to do this, must focus and observe the motion of the striker properly. 1 mistake will send the ball the wrong way and you've lost the possession.

Motivation: Im Not Superman

I believe we all when we were young wanted to be as strong as Superman. How we could wish we can fly around the world at supersonic speed, shoot laser beam eye, kick some bad guys a$$ and be the one who make all the girls fainted.Aahhh~

Smack back into reality it is impossible to be like Superman. Well maybe we can still go around the world by plane and still make girls scream our name by becoming a rock star or celebs but hey.. it doesnt matter in the end.

I wanna share with you guys a poem that inspire me a lot. A poem that tells us that to be successful being strong or have big muscle doesnt matter in the end. Its not about who can do awesome moves or do 100% success rate in shooting. What matters is in our mind. If you believe you can win, yes you can! If you believe you can be rich, yes you can! If you believe you can be a FIFA Champion, yes you can! Its all in the state of your mind.

I would like to dedicate this poem to all the readers here and to all my friends who are going into a tough time. If we all keep our minds together believe that we shall see the rainbow at the end of the day. And for those of you who feel you are not good enough, there is no such thing. If you believe in yourself there is nothing you cant achieve.

Mentality: Defend,Attack and Counter.

Defending,attacking and counter attack. This is the basic of football. A good player is a player which are good in all 3 areas. A player might be specialize in certain area for example defending or attacking but it is often those who win are those who are good in all areas.

Now from my own experience, there are more attacking players rather than defensive players. Well it is more exciting to play attacking football with all those amazing passes and dribbles but attacking players often make a mistake in defense. When ever they are defending, they always want to grab back the ball as fast as they can. They just rush out to get the ball from the opponent legs. In other words, their mind is still thinking to attack although its their time to defend.

This is what i want to share today. The mistake that most player did; wrong mentality. When its time to defend, went the ball is not with us, we must defend. Do not rush out to get the ball as fast as you want. First you make sure your defense line is in order. Only when the defense line is in place then you can think of getting the ball. What most people did is they just go out and get the ball because they are still in the attacking mentality. Because of this there are a lot of holes and make it easier for the opponent to score. So when its your turn to defend, you defend like The Great Wall Of China.

The same goes to attacking and counter attack. Most people when they get the ball they just straight away pump the ball to the striker regardless of the number of defender at the back. This is also a wrong mentality whereby counter attack means attack as swift and as fast as you can. The perfect timing to counter is when there are only 2-3 defender at the back. But most people just pass the ball to the striker although there are more than 4 at the back. Which in the end result in a failure to counter and thus giving away free possession to the opponent. If there is more than 4, build up your play slowly. If there is less, counter as swift as you can.

So it is important to understand and to have the right mentality. Although it seems simple, believe me there are many player who forgot to think of the right mentality. In the end it comes down to who has the strongest basic.

Defending: Manual Switch Player Button

Something new to FIFA 08 compare to the previous version is the ability to select any player you want during defending. You can even select the furthest player at the back even if your at your opponent half. This is the benefit of this switch button.

The switch button on keyboard is shift+Q and on gamepad its the right stick. Certain gamepad doesnt have this feature because you need to install the gamepad program 1st.

So whats the benefit of this button? Guess what, this button was design to block long ball! In the previos version long ball seems to be the move that always inflict pain in the ass. So EA has come up with a brilliant defending move which is Manual Switch Player Button.

How to use it?

1st: Select your last defender

Red: Opponent Blue: You

Then move to the back slowly as far as you can but not too far. If you saw the striker running then i suggest you start follow him as well. By doing this he wont have any free space to run forward anymore.

Dont Pressure Just Go Back

Although it seems simple but most people forgot to do this act of defense or even sometimes didnt quickly change to the last defender. Get use to it and you can block any long ball that comes into you path.

Attacking: Running

It is very important to know how and when to control your players to run. If you want to attack, you need people to run up for offensive measure. We all know the importance of making runs when we saw last night match between Spain vs Germany.

Now im going to share the direction to make your players run. There are 2 direction which is direct and indirect.

Direct:

Direct means you point your movement key base on where the position of the players that you want to run. For example:

So by actually pointing towards the midfielder and the winger, they will start to run into their respective position. This is what most of us always do.

Indirect:

For indirect, instead of pressing the run button which is Q on keyboard for indirect you press Q to the direction of the outside line. For example,

If you press Q once, the winger will be running first. But if you press Q twice, the winger and striker will run too. So this is indirect Q.

This are the 2 common direction that can be use to control your players to run nicely. Try experiment with it to get the right timing for your own play ^^

Mentality: Its Your Brain That Matters

In mentality section, we will discuss the brain part of the game. This is the hardest part to train since it requires a lot of understanding through practice and experience. But dont worry. That is why The FIFA Blog is here for you ^^

Normally we have the perception that those who can perform amazing movement such as Ronaldo dribbling skills or Lampard amazing long shot will win the game. Like for example if you can do "360" movement or unblockable crosses its consider as an amazing thing. But unfortunately football doesnt just revolve on 1 thing. It involves everything.

I learn this during WCG Grand Final 05 in Singapore. In the quarter final im going against Troll from Austria. He is very strong and he beat Gel (Malaysia No.1) in the group stage eventually top the group. Everyone regard him as the favourite of the tournament because his ability to do his crosses almost 100%.

During the quarter finals, i already had a plan in my mind to play mind games with him. Since i know he depends a lot in his crosses, i just let him come in the danger zone and just wait to block his crosses. Everytime i saw his ready to do his cross, i start my defensive movement to stop him. The 1st game prove that my strategies work when i beat him. But he was also unfortunate because i manage to injured his Henry accidentally. France without Henry is useless.

But in the 2nd game, his crosses still needs to be feared when he manage to trash me 5-1. Luckily it was best of 3 games. So the 3rd game was the decider. He was leading with 2 goals in the 1st half then an unfortunate event happen to me when my Joe Cole got send off for dangerous sliding. Yup im playing with 10 men now. But i've already practice playing with 10 men before in Malaysia because during that time i am well known to be so aggressive that i always get red card in a match.

So i still maintain the same way to defend his crosses thus making him not able to slot any more goals pass my goal. And i revert into an counter attacking tactic everytime he fail to do his crosses. This in the end put him under pressure and he started to do lots of mistakes in the end when i slot my 1st goal in the 2nd half. Then in the last min i manage to get an equalizer goal!

We continue into the extra time with silver goal ruling. From his play he is starting to get frustrated on the draw and start to commit lots of people to attack. And he keeps on doing the same crosses trick which i gladly anticipate to block. He keep on repeating the same cross on and on and on eventhough he know he cant score. It looks like he just had a mind block and i took full advantage of this when i slot the winning goal in extra time. Again i was playing with 10 men.

So as you can see it is not what you can do that matters. Its what your brain can do that matters. So when you play always remember that life dont always go to the strongest or fastest man, but often the man who win is the man who THINKS he can!

Defending: Goalie

In defending section, we will cover all the stuff about defending. Although i am not really that good in this area but at least i can still help with the basic.

I believe everyone here have undergo a situation where you have to defend 1 on 1 or a situation where it is most likely you gonna concede. And the only one who can stop you from concede any goal is your GK. But i believe everyone can see that sometimes they are not reliable as well.

Well here is some trick that i wanna share with you using graphics below:

1 on 1 Situation

During 1 on 1 situation or similar situation to this, you must be ready to use your GK as your last resort. It is very important to anticipate the speed and the position of the striker. The striker is most dangerous when he is walking because this show that your opponent is anticipating any movement from your GK. So be very careful when he is walking.

Now when the striker is this near to your box, it is time to bring out your GK. When you bring out your GK, do not bring him out from the small box yet. At this moment you will be playing mind games with him. Plus by keeping your GK in the small box it will reduce the chances for the striker to score because you are closing the angle for him to shoot. But if you come out of the box and the striker is still a distance from your GK, its gonna be a piece of cake for the striker to score.

Anticipation Time

When your GK is about to come out from the small box, try to anticipate the striker movement. See is he going to shoot or still moving forward. If he still moving forward then bring out your GK all the way to grab the ball. If the striker wanna shoot, pull back your GK to cover up the space expose at the far post. This should be enough to stop a few goals from going in.

Now there are disadvantage by using this method. If the striker do a dummy shot then most probably it will result in a goal in the end. Even the striker can also do a chip shot if your opponent is good at it. But all of this can be minimize by doing a lot of practice using this method. You might be expecting a few free goals when you 1st started using this method but once you've understand the concept you can make Julio Cesar into Buffon in no time. You can also stop any other common finishing by using this concept as well if you've already understand the concept.

In the end practice makes perfect. So play beautiful football ^^

Attacking: Mix Your Passes

In attacking section, we will discuss on the attacking area obviously.

Now some of us has this feeling that playing long ball is consider as cheap shot. Because of this we seldom do long ball and play more passes on the ground. Saying that its beautiful football to play without long ball and makes it more realistic.

I dont wanna debate on beautiful football because everyone has its own opinion about this issue. But what i would like to share is the benefit of mixing your passes.

Normally when we play just with ground passes, formation such as 433 and 424 can easily pressure the defence thus producing passing mistakes. So the only way to get out of this pressuring trap is to do a long ball to your midfielder.

424 Attackers Pressuring The Defense

It seems like there is no way out for the defender rite. The only way out against 424 is to play a longball to the midfielder.

1 Longball And You Free Yourself

As you can see, just by doing 1 simple long ball, you are set to demolish 424 defense with 6 attackers vs 6 defender. Now if you mix your passes correctly, you will be able to launch a successful attack against the defender even before they can react to your longball.

Mixing Up Passes And You Just Unleash A Deadly Attack

Just applying something simple to your play, you've just manage to punish any defensive mistake. If just focus on one type of passes, it is almost unlikely to do the above scenario. Besides that, mixing up passes does create what we so call beautiful football.

Attacking: Loopholes

Everybody likes to play attacking style of football rite? We love to see fast play, nice passes and deadly finishing. When we get the ball the only thing we think is the goal. If you like to do such thing, here is a tip that might make ur wishes come to true.

A good gamer is a gamer who knows how to find loopholes in their opponent's defence. Although every opponent have their own defending style, but every formation have their loopholes as well.

For example:

As you can see 442 have loopholes in between their players. Passes that revolves around this loopholes is very hard to def because it is their natural weakness. That is why formation like 433 can easily penetrate 442 because their natural position revolves around 442 loopholes.

433 position are naturally at 442 loopholes

Every formation have different loopholes. Passes that you normally do against 442 doesnt really work against 433 because of different loopholes. Passes that you normally do against 433 also doesnt work on 442. That is why it is very important to understand every formation advantage and disadvantage.

So to be a good gamer you must understand both your opponent and yourself. With this knowledge, any defense in the world even if its like a brick of wall you can penetrate easily.

Clan?

What is the role of a clan?

Why do people actually create clans? Izzit to dominate the gaming scene? To be the best? To be in a gang? To encourage more competitive gaming? Or To be gay with each other?

Now the reason of a clan being created can be varied. It can either be all of the above or none of the above or might the last one on the above. lol

But what i know is clan was created by a group of gamers who play the same game or might have different division of game as well.

For me, the clan role in the gaming community is to ensure that the gaming community will remain strong,healthy and growing or you can say productive.

For example, in the previous years there was hardly any tournament around. Even if there was a tournament, its pretty hard to fill it up the slot. Imagine if you are not in a clan, you alone will not do much help for the tournament itself. But when your in a clan, you go there as group and thus can confirm that at least 10 spots will be fill.

Now this is only if 1 clan. If we have 2-3 clan? Then up to 30 spots can be fill up easily. So to get the spots fill easily will not be hard anymore. Plus the clan in Malaysia are not picky as well. Even small tourney and oversea tourney we still join as well. For example last year there was a FIFA tourney in Dotcom8. Up to almost 60++ ppl turn up in such a small tourney! Even this year MMU Cyberjaya held their own cybergames tourney and it was a success. Thats show how we trully appreciate the organizer effort to held a tourney.

Plus being in a clan is fun! Your in a group with the same people who have the same interest with you. You can share skills, joke fool around or even go to karaoke together. Even when times was hard in the gaming scene we all can still stand together because everyone is supporting each other. If you were playing alone, you dont have anyone to support you or to motivate when you were down. Many people said that gamers are not good in communication skills. But if you were in a clan, this will help you tremendously because you have to interact with your clanmate as well. For me, although i am from an english speaking family but I learn how to speak english better because im in a clan. And currently starting to pick up some chinese language as well. Ni Hen Piao Liang, Wo Ai Ni. LOL

And clan will produce great gamers as well because you will be able to practice and share skills together with your clanmate. This you can see from other clans as well where most of the top gamers in Malaysia are from a clan. Not just in Malaysia but the whole world as well. This will help the gaming community to produce a world class gamer that everyone in the world would look up to.

Although its good that all clan will always participate in any tourney, but to be more professional the clan must also give back something to the gaming community as well.

For example, W|nDs has develop our very own W|nDs Youth Academy which would teach the younger generation how to play FIFA. Plus W|nDs has also develop a policy where from now on we are going to accept players only from the W|nDs Youth Academy. So we will not going to accept anyone above 21 at the moment. With this youth academy. we can confirm that there the tradition will never die after the veteran has retired one day. So there will always be a streamline for new blood.

So this is how the gaming clan help the gaming community by making it strong,healthy and growing or you can say productive. The clans are not here to dominate but rather to set up a benchmark standard for others to follow. At the same time gaming clans in Malaysia must also find out ways to help the gaming community beside joining tourney. Because our community is not big, we must be creative and find out ways to make our gaming community the best in the world.

So i hope that this will clear things out about our existence here as a clan. Although there are a sign of dominance of a certain clan in the gaming community, we are here to help the gaming community, not to destroy it. Just like Eminem lyrics in his song Toy Soldier " Why must we destroy the things we help build?"

And I hope that this will encourage more gamers to create their own clan as well. Come together we will change the gaming community and make our gaming community the best in the world. Together we are strong! ^^

Taipei Computex 2008

Hi guys! Reporting in from Taipei, Taiwan. As you may know previously i've received invitation from Abit to show my skills in FIFA during Computex 2008 to help promote their event. Computex is the 2nd largest IT event in the world. It is where all of the IT developer in the world meet up and show off their latest prod and tech.

One thing that i notice about Taiwan is.. Taiwan is so piao liang!(beautiful). They have such cozy weather with a little bit rain here and there but i've never experience heavy rain yet. Its kinda foggy here as well so its kinda cool as well. Thought that i wanna wear a jacket but after i saw that none of them wear any jacket well i have to control macho lar and tahan the cold. lol

Oopss before i run away too far from the main topic of this blog(which is FIFA), for the 1st time in the history of gaming, a FIFA clan logo in Malaysia has been proudly presented here at Computex. Here is the pics:

WCG Kick Off 08 FIFA Result

After a gruel-ling 2 days battle at Lowyat Plaza, here are the top 4:

1. [W|nDs] Vin
2. [W|nDs] A13x
3. [W|nDs] Loonatic
4. [MyFES] Warrior

On the 2nd day, the semi final commence. The results are:

[W|nDs] Vin beat [MyFES] Warrior
[W|nDs] Loonatic beat [W|nDs] A13x

Then for the finals it was a very exciting match. In the 1st game Loonatic was leading 2-0. With an advantage goals he came into the 2nd game stronger and manage to get a goal in the 1st half to make it harder for Vin . But in the 2nd half Vin change his formation to 4-3-3 and started to destroy Loonatic defence. In the end Vin made a complete comeback by winning 4-1. So Vin will be playing Si_Jali for the title defense.

In the title defense match, it was a very tight game. Both player were using Barcelona. It seems that the game is base on who does the 1st mistake for each gamer are playing with almost an equal skill level. Suddenly Si_Jali manage to counter and pass the ball to his striker. The striker was obviously could not go into the box because he was not in a good position to go for a 1 on 1 chance. So he waited and run up to the corner flag and did a cross into the box. It seems that there were no one in the box.. but suddenly Henry was running from outside the box and manage to get into the box just went the ball arrive... and head it in! The 1st game ended with Si_Jali leading by 1 goal advantage.

The 2nd game commence and it was still pretty tight. It seems that both are pretty good in defending and canceling out each other. But during the attack, Vin manage to get the ball but being under pressure Si_Jali manage to grab the ball back and from a tight angle tried to do a fast volley near the post.. the ball was so powerful that it look like it went over the bar.. but it went in instead! Lucky Si_Jali again. But Vin retaliate very fast launching a nice counter ball to set his striker free ruining Si_Jali defense and launch a quick low cross to another striker to score. A great respond to make a comeback. 1- 1 now. The game was still as intense as it was earlier. Both are still canceling out each other. In the end, Si_Jali won the game by an aggregate of 2-1.

So this mean that Si_Jali will be representing Malaysia again to Singapore for the World Cyber Games Asia 2008. It was such a great tournament and it was good experience for everyone who joined the tournament. Hope that everyone will keep on supporting the local FIFA scene as well.

WCG Kick Off Lucky Draw... NOT!

Good news! The registration method has been changed back again to 1st come 1st serve basis. After receiving a lot of feedback and suggestion by gamers, the organizers decided to change it back again to 1st come 1st serve. Thank you In2 Marketing Sdn Bhd for the effort.

Now since its back to normal, everyone have to fight for the spot now. Luck will still play its role but its still minimal. Are we going to see gamers camping out early near Lowyat for the event? Are we going to see gamers fighting for the que? We shall see tomorrow.

Whatever it is, i wish everyone all the best for tomorrow. Let us make this happen. Let us turn WCG Kick-Off into a very happening and exciting event. Never give up and never surrender to get the chances representing Malaysia to WCG Asia 08 in Singapore. Last word, "Majulah E-Sukan Untuk Kami & Negara" ^^

WCG Kick Off 08 Lucky Draw

As you may or may not know, this coming Friday 30th May 2008 at Lowyat Plaza, WCG Malaysia will start its kick-off event. And at the same time, they have decided to include the qualifier for WCG Asia as well that will be held this year in Singapore for the 3rd consecutive time.

The games involve are:

1. FIFA 08
2. NFS Pro Street
3. DOTA

Now what is really interesting is this is the 1st time Malaysia held a qualifier for WCG Asia 08. Previously they will pick the last year champion to represent Malaysia.

Another interesting fact is the registration process. For the 1st time in Malaysia gaming history i believe, all the participant will be able to register but they will be doing balloting. What is balloting? It means they will do a lucky draw infront of everyone and participants who were lucky will be getting the spot. They will keep on doing the lucky draw until the slot is finish.

IMO such prestige competition should not introduce such registration method. The purpose of doing a qualifier is to find the best to represent the country. If participation is base on luck, im afraid that some of the best gamer in our country could not get a spot in the qualifier.

Although everyone agree that luck is one of the factor that contribute to a person' success, but there was a research conducted by some western universities(i forgot.sorry!) that shows that luck was not the main reason why a person is successful. Most of the time it was hardwork,dedication,passion and discipline.

Is luck the factor the organizer are looking for in gamers? Im not sure. But what im sure is that this registration method would not follow the objective of the qualifier which is to find the best gamer in the country.

I hope that the organizer will come up with a better method to fulfill the objective of the qualifier not just to find the best gamer in the country, but as well to create and maintaining the healthy competitiveness that most of the gamers have enjoyed in the gaming scene in Malaysia ^^

Match Stats

I believe some of us have the habit to check the match stats after the match just to get a clear view of how the game is. Who has more possession? Who has been shooting a lot? And etc etc.

I personally dont really care about the match stats because i dont believe in numbers. Numbers dont tell me how the game goes. In real life the match doesnt play on paper.

But recently i've just notice something. Usually the winner of the game has a better:

1. Passing Accuracy
2. Shooting Accuracy

I dont know was it only coincidence but after i've done a few research on my own on other gamers as well, my hypothesis was correct! Usually most of the people only check at the possession percentage but in the end it doesnt really matter who have the ball more. That explain a lot if my theory is right.

So in other words, if you wanna beat your opponent, you must have better passes and better accuracy in shooting.

There are some matches where i found out that the loser has a better passing accuracy than the winner but his shooting accuracy is not good. So he could have won the match if his finishing is better. This prove that both must exist together.

So from now on why dont you guys try this yourself? Everytime right after the match, check the match stats. If my theory is true, then you should know what to do. ^^

Oh do tell me does it work or not. This might be an exciting discovery i might say ^^

1 More Round!

Do you guys know who is Mohammad Ali? Duhh of course know rite. He is the former three-time World Heavyweight Champion and winner of an Olympic Light-heavyweight gold medal. In 1999, Ali was crowned "Sportsman of the Century" by Sports Illustrated and the BBC.

He is also famous with his motto "Float Like A Butterfly Sting Like A Bee". It was used to describe the way he fight which is so graceful but deadly. But at the same time he fight with his heart.

There was this interview people ask him:

Reporter: The fight between you and George Foreman was a great match. And you have fight with many other great boxers. But what keeps you up? What keeps you still standing after every punches?

Ali: Everytime someone hit me and i fall down, its the most painful feeling of all. There were times when i dont feel like waking up, where i just wanted to lay down and i couldnt hear a thing. It was so dark and quiet. I couldnt not see,hear and feel anything. Suddenly when i've just about to quit, i talk to myself and i said... 1 more round Ali... 1 MORE round... 1 MORE ROUND!!!

And i woke up and fall again. And i will said it again.. 1 more round... 1 MORE ROUND!!

Everytime i fall down, i will always say this. I will never quit until the last round. Because until the final round, there is always 1 MORE ROUND!!

Basic Is Important

One of the thing i've learn thru my experience in CGS is how important your basic is. Although players from Aus and Dubai were not that good but they have a very good basic and understanding of the game. So they manage to minimize the losses because the gap of skills were not that far.

The same with playing experience players such as Korea and China, although everyone have their own style of play, in the end all comes down to who have the stronger foundation in knowledge. Usually most of the time in such a match, each player will cancel out each other. So it will come down to which player has more knowledge than the other.

Im a big fan of Slam Dunk by Takehiko Inoue. The captain of Shohoku, Akagi Takenori always said this to Sakuragi:

" Basic is very important. In the game its not about doing slam dunk. Its about which player have the stronger basic foundation than the other. Because the game doesnt revolve around 1 thing. It involves everything."

So how do we train our basic?One of the way to train your basic is doing drills.

"What is drills? Drills means practicing a specific set of skill and keep on repeating it for a period of time."

eg: Practice on shooting ONLY for 3 hours or practice on passing ONLY for 3 hours.

Instead of training a normal match where you play against each other, you spend your time practicing ONLY on shooting,passing,crossing etc etc. Just like how normal footballers practice their shooting and passing, the same thing goes into FIFA as well. Focus on a single skill until you are satisfied with the result.

Although it may seems boring, but believe me the end result is worth it. This is how i discovered a lot of amazing skills in the game. And i believe you will discover it too ^^

Beckham was known for his amazing accuracy in crossing and free kick. Why? Because when he was young everyday he do DRILLS. ^^

XcN team from Indonesia built their well-known reputation on both CS and DotA games. Their track records include winning 1st place in CS at the WCG Indonesia qualifier 2006 and at the ESWC Indonesia qualifier 1st place and champions in DotA at the WCG and GXL in Singapore in 2007.

In addition, the two Malaysian top gamers FoRza (Sophian Shahirul) and Si_Jali (Rinie Bin Ramli) will be present. FoRza won the NFS Championship of the WCG Malaysia National Final in a row from 2006 to 2007 and is the champion of EA Play 2008 Singapore. Si_Jali is famous for the FIFA Soccer Series, and also has been Champion in the WCG from 2006 to 2007.

Allergy To Dust + Cold

Hi guys. This couple of days after coming back from China i was pretty ill. I thought by taking some medication it might gone off soon. But until now it has turn to worst. Even my face was a little bit swollen. I went to see the doc today and he told me that i had an allergy attack in my nose which cause inflammation inside. It was pretty a shocking news since i've never had an allergy before.

It seems that it was because of the combination of dust + cold. You only can get this in China. Its pretty amusing i must say but heck when it happen, it happens.

So im going to take a few days off to get myself back to normal. I'll definitely continue The FIFA Blog once im A-OK!

Review: CGS Pan Asian Final 08 In Wuhan, China

Sorry for the late update. I've just reach KL on Monday night and now recovering from a very bad fever due to cough and flu. I was suppose to take a day rest but i dont feel like taking the rest either. So here it goes! Review of the CGS Pan Asian Final 08 thru the eyes of a FIFA gamer!

1st Day: Arrival Of All Franchise

On the 1st day we arrived there, i've to say Wuhan is a very beautiful place. It looks like the city is pretty well organized in terms of building placement. There were a lot of cars, scooters and bicycles around. We were staying in a 5 star hotel (woohoo!) called Xiongchu International Hotel. The room was very nice included with an LCD TV! They also have ESPN! The buffet was not bad either but too bad most of it is not halal.

2nd Day: Briefing Day

On the 2nd day we went to the competition arena. Man its unbelievable! Imagine a stadium just for gaming competition. Although it was still under construction but it is still amazing. So the whole day we were listening for the briefing and the procedure of CGS. It wasnt that hard since i am used to smile all the time. Haha~ But 1 thing i dont like is the commentator Alvin (yup the one from Channel V) called my name wrongly. He goes like " From KL Taufan, its Jellyfish!". WHAT THE FISH!! Its Si_Jali dude! Then the producer cut and go again. This time he said " From KL Taufan, its Si_Jelly!" And the producer cut again and said " Its Jali man Jali! Cant you read?" . OMG even the producer an english man can pronounce it right. LOL

3rd Day: Match Day

3rd Day is the match day. Man everyone was pretty serious on that day because we really really want to win against Dubai. And we wanna prove that we are not the weakest franchise in the tourney. The 1st game line up was FIFA. Not knowing how Shark play, i've just stick to my normal play. From the match i can see that his wasnt a good player. His basic was strong but his attack is weak. So the match ended up me winning 3-0. Quite an impressive start and a morale booster to the team as well. In the end, we all won the match vs Dubai with an impressive score.

4th Day: Pressuring Day

4th day is a very tiring day. We are gonna play against 2 strong franchise which is Sydney and Seoul. Sydney has just won against Singapore and Wuhan and they are very strong. Seoul have a strong DOA and FIFA line up. Its going to be a tough match. I couldnt remember the line up of the game but FIFA was the 2nd last match and KL Taufan were down by 10-15 points. So its pretty hard to catch up now. Haroutig10 also have a strong basic and he is very deadly in the box. But he cannot defend against long ball so i exploit his defense with that. I was leading by 2-0. Then suddenly during the goal kick, my GK suppose to pass to the nearest defender but in the end he pass to the striker! With an open goal he scored. Ahh what a waste. The commentator (Alvin again) goes like "That is the most beautiful goal i've ever seen in my life". In the end, we lost to Sydney. The 2nd match was between KL & Seoul. Their DOA & FIFA is very strong. They have never lost a single match in this game yet. Seoul FIFA player, Unlimited is well known in Korea. He execute his move perfectly. Any mistake will be punish by him. He uses Spain with 433. 1st half he really put pressure to my def. Until suddenly he did a long ball and my GK rush out... but he do nothing! When the ball was near, he just stand there and let the striker score. Ahh another free goal for goalie dumbness. His 2nd goal also came from a lob and my def was nowhere to be found. He was lucky but nevertheless sometime you need luck to win. 2nd half i manage to minimize my mistake and got a goal. The match ended 1-2. KL also lost to Seoul in the end.

5th Day: Public Enemy No.1

5th day is against the home ground team, Wuhan. Now we are public enemy no.1 FIFA playing the 3rd game. KL lost to Wuhan in Forza by 1-6 but get back point in DOA F with 5-2. Looking that we still in fight, i go into the match with immense pressure... but the match was very weird! All of his 4 goals came from the same previous mistake, GK mistakes! Many times the GK rush out and do nothing. Even my attacking force was unlucky. 3 times i had an open goal where the ball either hit my own player, or hit the bar or offside. Aihh talk about string of bad luck man. In the end i lost 1-4. It was my 1st game in my life that such thing happened.

6th Day: Redeem and Revenge

6th day is the last day. Today we MUST beat Singapore to qualify for the semi. Although Tetra wasnt there anymore, we know that we cant look down on them. FIFA was the 2nd last match playing with my friend and clanmate Xtreme. I know that its gonna be a tough game since we both know each other very well. He score the 1st goal thru a rebound corner which i believe was an offside but i keep my calm and play like usuall. I manage to get a corner and took it fast and short which caught him by surprise. I launch a cross and Viera jump high and head it in! Oh yeah nice one baldy! The match ended 1-1 and goes into penalty. During the penalty shoot-out, i let him score the 1st 3 goals to read his movement, then i saw that there is a pattern in the way he took the penalty. On the 6th shot, im guessing his gonna shoot to the left and... he did! I saved it and won the penalty shoot out by 6-5. So thats why in the scoreboard it shows 6-5. Its not because its a high scoring game but its because of penalty shoot out. LOL.

We manage to beat Singapore and went into the Semi. Again we are going to meet Sydney which had never lost a single match against any franchise. We are hoping to get our revenge especially for me since he manage to get a free goal. FIFA was the 1st game and it was intense. Again i exploit his defense and manage to score 2 goals. It could have been 3-4 goals but too bad i miss a few changes. In the end i won 2-0. Hah no free goal for you again! LOL. But too bad the other games just could not manage to perform well especially DOA. So we ended up being the top 4 team with Sydney, Wuhan and Seoul.

Overall:

Well through out the tourney, i gain a lot of valuable experience. I found out that handling pressure was very important in CGS. The pressure was so high mainly because we wanna win as many point as possible and cover up the losses. So its pretty hard. There were many times in my mind thinking of scoring 10 goals to help the team.. but its too much to ask. Playing against Sydney, Wuhan and Seoul was really pressuring for me because i've to help the team to cover up the point. But in the end it affected my game and i lost the match against Seoul & Wuhan.

After the Wuhan match i know that i've to confront myself and fight this pressure away. I went back to the hotel and took a bath. I clear my mind and ignore all those unwanted pressure. And started to think about the things that i like to do while playing FIFA. Against Singapore and Sydney, i played with a new mentality & it works! Now i've understand that no matter how bad things look, in the end its all about having fun. But too bad i realize this too late. It felt silly when i've been playing for 6 years and i forgot the most important thing about gaming, which is to have fun!

Overall, CGS has teach me a lot and make me a better player. I hope that i can join CGS again for next season and get my revenge! Watch out Unlimited and Skyline! Haha lastly i would like to thank all the KL Taufan members & CGS for giving me this opportunity to participate in such an exciting tournament. Hope to see you all next season! ^^

CGS Pan Asian Final 2008 Wuhan China

Hi guys. I will be going to China representing KL Taufan for Championship Gaming Series Pan Asian Final 2008. So i'll try my best to update our progress there and will also try my best to upload some pics so that we can share together with everyone our experience there.

Attacking: Scoring

Basically when it comes to scoring, there are 3 things we need to be aware off which is:

The distance between the striker and GK.
The angle of the shot.
The power of the shot.

Example:

This is a very nice position to score. Usually the nice distance between the GK should be around 2-3 fingers distance. In this position as well it is best if you target the far post since its not well guarded compare to the near post. So the angle should be 250' with 60-70% shot power. If you can get it right the chances to score is nearly 95%.

This is in assumption that the GK didnt come out from the post. What about if the GK rush out? The same rules still apply but never release the ball too early or too late. Always wait for the right distance which is 2-3 fingers distance. You must anticipate and wait for the right distance only then can you load up your shot.

So no matter how the situation is, in the end the 3 simple basic rules still applies. So practice more on getting the rules right. Once you understand the rules, no matter in what position you can definitely improve your finishing ^^

Attacking: Manual Crossing

Previously i have write an article about Crossing in the February 2008 list. Now since for competition purpose the crossing has been set to manual. Although its not auto anymore, it still apply the same rules which is:

"When we wanna do crosses, it always follow 3 simple rules: "

a. The position of the striker
b. The direction of the cross
c. The power of the cross

eg: A striker is running towards the far post,(position) so its best if we can target the ball infront of him (direction). The power should be more than 50% of the bar(power).

Now for manual cross, the direction is very important, normally in this position, the direction should be 90 degree straight up:

If your winger is not in the same angle as as your striker, for example a little bit infront of him, then aim the cross a little bit to the back around 80 degree to the left. Since the crossing is in manual now, those who are using gamepad have more advantage in getting the angle right. But nevertheless keyboard players can also do nice crosses because sometimes the game engine will help to adjust the angle by itself. So no worries.

If you find that getting the angle is hard, one of my trick that i always do is when ever you've done a cross be it successful or not, always look back at your finger, see if the angle is right or wrong. From there you adjust it slowly. Always apply the Trial and Error principle.

So i would like to ask a few question:

1. What is the time you USUALLY read the tips here at The FIFA Blog?

2. What is the time you PREFER to read the tips? Izzit when you just woke up in the morning, or during lunch or maybe after you finish all your activities at nite?

3. Any suggestion with the time? Maybe you want to have 2 tips in a day? or maybe you feel that there is too much rite now and i should slow down?

As many of you guys know, i always publish the post usually in late afternoon or night usually after i finish with my daily routine as well. But i would like to know would it be convenient if it were publish in a better slot of time. So i would like to hear your thought as well.

Training Tips: Work Your Weak Point

Everyday we practice. Some train maybe 1 hours others might train for 4 hours. But no matter how long we practice, if we never know how to train properly, all the hard work will be wasted.

In order to improve at a faster speed, 1st we need to know where our weakness lie. If we just practice like a normal match without any objective, it is useless. Many people neglect such thing. When they touch the keyboard or gamepad, they just play. And the only thing in their mind is to score goals. Although its a good motivation but the rate of which they improve their game will be slower compare to those who work on their weak point.

Here is a step by step guide:

1st. Identify Your Weakness

Before you do anything, find out 1st where do you feel your weakness is. Weakness can be divided into 3 section:

Attacking
Defensive
General Play

For example in the attacking part, try to see where you lack. Are you playing too direct? Too slow? Having problem with crossing? and etc etc. Once you identify your weakness you make a list. The top on your list should the one you feel is your most biggest weakness. From there you work your way down from the biggest until the smallest.

This will train your mind to be more systematic in how you solve your problem. This can be apply to in your life as well.

2nd. Work Your Weak Point

Once you identify where your weakness lies, now is the time to work your weak point. In order to work this out, you need to be creative. What i mean by creative is not create something new, but have the " Trial And Error" Principe.

Although it will be very tiring and frustrating, this is the only way to work your weakness. You need to have "What if.." attitude. Everytime you fail to try something new, say to yourself "What if i do this? or maybe if i do that?".

For example you want to find out a way to cross. Then you try to do a direct cross.. but it doesnt work. What if you try an indirect cross? What if you try cross which go to the far post instead of the near post? So must keep on asking yourself until you find your strength.

You need to keep on trying until you find the solution. There is no short cut to success ^^

Ok guys thats all for today. Happy training! Remember its not the quantity of the training, but its the quality that matters. Like what my lecturer used to say "There is no use reading a book for 10 hours if you dont understand a single word at all" ^^

Defensive Move: Bringing Gk Out

I think we dont usually have the habit of bringing the GK out. Even when its a clear cut that the striker going to score we just prefer to let the GK handle it by default. But bringing out the GK has it advantages as well. Especially during certain events which is:

1. Long Ball Play

This is a very tricky position as well. To rush out or not to rush out. A nice tip i want to share is you just bring out the GK if the ball has been played in the center of the field. If the long ball is being played of the wing then better just guard your post since it is not a direct treat to your goal.

When you bring out always estimate the speed of the ball. If its too fast for you to rush out then stay in your box. If its high in the air go out and get the ball. For me i just bring out the GK until near the end of the box and estimate the speed of the ball. Its a save distance for me to actually plan my move base on the situation.

2. 1 on 1 situation

If long ball is your problem then this should be your no.1 problem in your list! This is the most confusing and tricky part in the game. Its either you stay back or you let them score. You go out and they might shoot the ball into the net. So which is the most safest route?

Another tip is you must test your opponent composure as well. Same like you, they feel nervous to score. Since its only you and him at the back end, his confidence to score is higher than your chances to save. So you must do something which he cant predict.

One of the move is to measure the distance between him and you GK. Bring out your GK a little bit to test his composure. Then see how he reacts to it, if he started to show an act of scoring, go back. If he show a sign of running go and get the ball from him. When it come to this point, all it matters is how you play mind games with him. Its not about skills anymore. Its all about the mind.

So try to test this out and please do tell me does it work for you or not. Remember in the end its all about be in control of the situation.

One of the song that has truly inspire many people. The lyrics are so touching and deep. It always keep my spirit high.

2. Fikirkan Boleh - Malaysia singer

One of the local oldies which i really like! I always remember this song and i always sing it no matter where i am and what i do. It is true that if you think you can do it, you can do it!

3. Standing In The Eyes Of The World - Infinatez originally sang by Ella.

The 1998 Commonwealth song! One of my favourite. I'll sing the song everytime im on the podium. It just touch me. The song is about hardwork and never give up attitude that will result in getting success.

4. Remember The Name - Fort Minor

Man this song is hot! I like the song, i like the video, i like everything about yo dawg! Haha well i dont really know how to rap but i just sang the parts which inspired me only. Anyway enjoy the clip!

Mental Preparation

Mental preparation is very hard to practice. Usually this where the difference lies between the pro and the amateur. You may have a solid body, a healthy lifestyle and can withstand the north pole but when it comes to mind game it is totally a different stage.

I might say mind game is the 80% reason why people like Michael Schumacher and Tiger Woods always be no.1. The way they think and the way they react to mind game is different than anyone else. Its a prove that no matter how things look bad on them, they will always be in the end no.1. I really admire both of them.

To train your mind require a lot of practice and match experience. Otherwise physical preparation doesnt require you to experience playing with other people in order to be physically prepared. Usually it takes up to 3 years to actually train your mind to be ready. But this all depend on the person itself. Some are fast learners while others just take too much time to understand.

Ok now i'll explain one by one every part of the mental preparation:

A. Thinking Mentality

Thinking mentality can be divided into 2 categories; Positive and negative.

In order to achieve victory we must know how to use the power of positive thinking as well as negative thinking. I know some of you though that all you need is to be positive. No its not true. You need to be negative at the same time. Use the negative energy into your advantage.

Every time when im in a tourney, i never expect myself to win. In my mind i always expecting myself to lost! I know its hard for many people to believe this but this is what i always think. Because i always expect myself to lost i fight back and play harder than usual. By using this negative thinking im forcing myself to not allow any mistakes to happen. This in the end will generate more positive than the negative.

Positive thinking is more like the power of faith. You must have faith in whatever you do. Doesnt matter the outcome of your match, you must have faith in yourself. You must believe that you can do the impossible. If you believe you can do it, you can do it!

B. Pressure and Nervous

This is where many people fail to adapt. This is where big names can fall. The pressure. The horror...

Handling pressure and nervous is a very difficult thing to do. Even when i play someone in a very pressuring match, my whole body will definitely be nervous! Although not many people can see that but the truth is i shake! I shake my leg,my hand and my body (No its not a lyric from a song.)

One of my tips to handle pressure is to control your breathing. Because in such a tension we need more oxygen than ever. With all the adrenaline rush the heart will definitely pump faster than normal. So you need more oxygen. So breath. Breath in... breath out... breath in... breath out... then push! push! and we have a baby! (Joking!)

But actually i'll always forgot to breath too. What i do is sing a song! Yup i sang songs while playing. By actually singing you can actually help your breathing as well. If you sing motivational song it will increase your spirit to compete better. I sing as loud as i can just that i dont let my opponent hear if not later he get inspired as well and im dead!

C. Attitude

Attitude is part of ethic and who you are actually. Its your core heart and personality. Some people play with a very shy manner. Some people like to brag everytime they score. While some just cant face defeat and run away when they lost.

So what is the right attitude to win? The right attitude is to be as gentleman as possible. If you win, shake your opponent hand and smile. If you lost, shake your opponent hand and smile(with tears if you cant take it). If you score goals, enjoy it but do not overdo. If you conceded, admit your mistake and move on. Do not look back.

Having the right attitude keep you positive in all way. Do not intimidate your opponent by shouting at his face or showing some amazing finger movement. Because in the end it will fire back to you if you fail to beat your opponent. And believe me get fire back is more hard to handle than normal pressure.

Doesnt matter if you are winning or losing, the right attitude will always make you the winner in the end. Although people say nice guy finish last, then the last is the champion spot. ^^

D. Spirit

Im not talking about ghost(spirit) here. And please do not use those dirty trick as well. The spirit is your spirit. Your self believe, your emotion and your passion. Spirit is very important. Its part of patriotism. Many people willing to die for their country because of patriotism.

Before you join a competition, you need to cleanse your spirit. You need to have clear mind and at the same time high enthusiasm and passionate in the game. If your mind is full of other things beside the competition, most probably your chance to win is slim. You need to be focus and concentrate in the competition. The only way is to have a clear mind in what your objective is. Clear mind,high spirit and passionate, thats the key to success.

This are the basic part of the preparation. Although its basic, its vital to master it because without the basic you are always expose to mistakes.

So be prepared! ^^

Physical Preparation

The physical preparation consist mainly on your physical well being. Your health, your fitness, your tolerance to the cold and also gaming skills. Now why do i put gaming skills here instead in the mental part? I'll explain later once i go through all the part.

A. Health

Health is vital. You dont wanna play when every few minutes you gonna sneeze or cough. Or even having a cracking headache every now and then. Or the worst for me is the stomach forcing you to go to the "bank" every hour. This one is very hard to sustain.

Myself when i 1st join WCG 03 i had a cold fever. Maybe because im nervous or what im not sure. For some reason i feel the cold help me to focus more in my game. But the headache just killing me. It is not a nice feeling. And i lost because i couldnt take it anymore with the headache. So make sure you stay healthy before the game.

B. Fitness

One of the example of fitness is when you play with an empty stomach. It is cruel believe me. When i play during CGS 07 it was the fasting month. The only thing in my mind was food. Nothing else. With lots of drama and issue during the tourney i started to lost focus. In the end i was just hoping to eat at least. So fitness is something like your focus or concentration of your body to endure abnormal condition.

C. Gaming Skills

Ok now why do i put gaming skills in the physical part? The only way to obtain gaming skills is to practice. With no practice you will never get the finger feeling skills anymore.

For example the last few weeks i didnt touch FIFA at all because i was pretty busy with my business. Then i started to play FIFA again. In my mind i was thinking about doing a low cross. But when it comes to my hand, in the end it ended up with a normal high cross. It is pretty weird that your hand is not doing what your mind asking you to do. In the end i couldnt do those amazing moves that i normally do although it was in my head.

So you see the gaming skills fall down in the physical part because it require practice. Without practice you dont have the practical training for your finger.

4. Tolerance to cold

Me personally i can only tolerate coldness into a certain extend. This cold thing is very dangerous. It can actually numb your finger and you wont feel anything when you press. So in the end you wont have the skills feeling anymore. I really dont like to play in cold places because my finger could not react as fast as it should. In the end i'll definitely miss those easy to score chances just because my finger get numb.

So we must get ready with all of this 4 condition in order to make sure we will stay in the optimum competitive state. I will continue tomorrow with the mental part. So stay tune! ^^

I always wear a jacket to any tourney and i think everyone should too. Now im thinking maybe i should wear a glove or not. ^^

Tourney Preparation

When we join tournament, the most important part is the preparation. Everything is about preparation. You can predict the outcome of the tournament just from preparation. If you didnt practice well you are not going to win the tournament although you are talented. If you practice hard then you have the chances to win the tournament. Although we cant measure how long or how hard everyone prepare for the tournament but at least can see the different from those who did prepare and those who dont.

So how do you really get ready for the tourney? What is your preparation?

For me there is two type of preparation:

Physical preparation
Mental preparation

Physical preparation included:

Health
Fitness
Gaming skills
Tolerance to changes in temperature (Most of the tourney is very cold. Some cant tolerate)

Mental preparation included:

Thinking mentality
Handling pressure and nervous
Attitude
Spirit

Tomorrow i'll discuss one by one about the preparation. Preparation is quite vital because you can know the outcome the tourney just by looking at the preparation ^^

Today im going to share to you how to do combo moves with a very basic and simple way. Its so simple that a 5 year old boy can even try.

All you need is:

A piece of paper
A pencil or colour pencil.

Ok now draw the desired formation that you wanna used. Let us use 442 as an example. Draw 442 formation on paper like the picture below:

This is the basic 442 formation. Now the 2nd part is to choose from where you wanna attack. Let say you like to attack through the wing. So we start the attack from the wing back. Then imagine how are you going to release a cross to your striker. Obviously you need your winger to be free in order to do that. So we try to create some movement which will release the winger:

*** Instruction:

With your wingback make the winger run by pressing Q (the default run button)
Then pass to your midfielder.
When your winger almost run pass the opponent defender pass to your striker.
With a 1 touch pass straight away pass to your winger again once he is free.
Then time your far post striker and cross into the box.

Remember this is still on paper. Meaning in theory it would work. Now the 3rd step is to test it against CPU. From here on you will know how to use this combo and alter a little bit here and there to make it more perfect. So must do a little bit experiment with CPU and human players as well.

So to sum it up:

Draw the desire formation you wanna use.
Draw the desire area you wanna attack.
Test it with CPU and human players.

See isnt it simple? The combo that i just showed you was one of the combo i used to win in WCG Asia 06 and im still using it now. Although its very simple but its deadly.

So start picking up your drawing tools and get in touch with your artistic and creative side ^^

I would like to sincere apologize to all readers of The FIFA Blog for not updating this blog last week.

It was a very busy week for me because im in the verge of closing a business deal as well as completing a website for my business. I never thought that it had drag up to straight 3 weeks to complete all the task.

Nevertheless its not an excuse for me to neglect my responsibility to this blog. For that i apologize.

To make it up to all my beloved reader i will give special tips for this week so check it out tomorrow ok!

April Fool

I think since its April Fool why not i share a trick on how to fool your opponent in FIFA.

Example:

In order to do this you must know where is your strength is. If you like to play thru the wing obviously you are pretty good in crossing. So most of the time your goals come from crossing.

When you score a goal or 2 from crossing, your opponent will start to be aware of your strength. Naturally he will tighten his def in that area of the field thus making you a little bit more harder than before.

So now that you've know that he has tighten his def, should you keep on doing the same thing? Of course not. But usually people realize this too late. They tried a few times attacking at the same place and feel that its getting harder, only then they change their tactics. Or even sometimes they dont realize and just keep on attacking the area blindly. Usually its too late or too early to do it.

But the trick to do this is not when your opponent starting to def that area. You must change your tactic even before he start defending the area. You need to anticipate your opponent's movement.

Let say you start your attack thru the left flank, you can see or feel that your opponent will start to get aware of your tactic. So instead of doing the normal thing why not you change your course of attack thru the mid or the right flank? Once you change the course of your attack, your opponent will definitely start to panic and you can start go thru their hole in the def. Thus creating a panic rush to your opponent everytime you attack.

So the concept is:

"Do your thing and change it before they anticipate"

Although its easy to understand the concept, but its require a lot of practice.

Thru practice you will develop your sixth sense to know when is the correct timing to do so. ^^

With this tactic you can fool your opponent not just on April Fool but any month of the year ^^

Up And Down

If we are in the business world, we will often hear this word " Buy low sell high!". Or when in the stock market people usually trade during the good economic growth while keep their money when the economy went bad.

But based on Robert T. Kyosaki, he said:

" A champion is those who know how to get profit during bad times and earn more and more profit during good times."

Basically what he is trying to say is no matter where the market goes, no matter how the economy is, the champion will always benefit either way. The champion will make full use of his knowledge and change the situation to his own way.

Same as FIFA although you score the 1st goal doesnt mean you are going to win. A true champion is a person who know how to secure his victory when he is leading and know how to make a comeback when he is losing. Doesnt matter if he is leading 5-0 or losing 5-0, the Champion know what to do in all of this situation in order to secure his victory.

From my personal experience i've seen a lot of people who are leading with lots of goal but in the end lost while those who are losing badly manage to make a comeback. But most of the time those who are losing will just lost. And everyone of them who failed share the same trait which is:

"Over confident or no confident"

Those who are winning thought they are winning while those who are losing thought they are losing. Its either over confident or lack of confident. A champion always balance this emotion. So always make sure that you doesnt fall in either one of the bad trait.

So dont always thought that when you score the 1st goal you will win. Although its a mental boost but be aware of your opponent desire to win.

In the end its what in your head that counts ^^

I think one of the most memorable comeback made in history of football is between Liverpool and AC Milan UCL 2005. Superb longshots. ^^

Ground Passes

Passing is the blood of the game. Its the key of any team. We love to watch football not just about the goals but also the assist that help the goal as well. Especially nice build up play.

In FIFA there are 2 type of ground passes. One is normal direct pass and another one is through passes.

1. Normal Direct Pass.

The name itself speaks the action of the pass. It was never meant to create any fast break but merely just to build up. Even sometimes especially infront of the box for some weird reason the player will always try their best to pass behind the receiving player. This is to make sure that they can keep the possession.

2. Through Pass.

This is a special pass to increase the momentum of the game. Especially useful in fast break or go in between the def. But it lacks accuracy thus require to have fast players to get the ball. You can also out pace the def if you can give a perfect pass to your striker. Usually this type of pass will produce 1 on 1 situation with the GK.

So choose wisely which type of pass you wanna use in different situation. Not all type of pass can be use in all situation. ^^

I still remember Arsenal played very nice ground passing game back in Henry era. Its very rare to find such play nowadays ^^

Unlucky

Have you ever do something that suppose to work but didnt work? Have you ever try to score a goal which suppose to go in but it hits the post or miss it? Or you are very unlucky that every time u slide an opponent you get red card?

Guess what? It happens to me too! And try to take another guess, who is the most unluckiest person in our FIFA community?

That person is.... me! Dont believe me? Check this out:

WCG 03:

In the semi final of loser bracket Gassa did a long shot from the wing. The GK was suppose to catch it but guess what? He stand there and be fooled by the shot! It was David Seamen..

WCG 04:

In the grand final i was leading 3-0 against Hwa. Then he get 3 STRAIGHT PENALTY and equalized the match to 3-3. In the end he won WCG Malaysia with the 2nd game 2-1.. also from penalty!

Electronic Football Competition(EFC) 06:

In the 2nd round against MyFES.Solidsnake, i cross and head to the post more than 5 times... IN A ROW! He beat me with the aggregate of 4-1.

Solidsnake ended up as the champion of EFC 06.

WCG 06:

Again n the semi final of loser bracket against Solidsnake he beat me in the 1st match 4-1. Then i make a comeback in the 2nd game 3-0. Then in the last minute he grab the ball from my poor Neville and counter attack. He cross and Henry was running. Robinson suppose to catch the ball but wait... Henry out-pace and out-jump Robinson and scores! Again it was England!

WCG 07:

Visa denied. Have to say more?

CGS 07:

For some reason any computer that i touch will have problem. Touch this one will disconnect. Touch that one will disconnect. Donno if i touch any girl will disconnect any clothes or not. :P

So in the 3rd round against own clanmate [W|nDs] Illeonu, he lead me by 3-0.Then in the 2nd half i make another comeback to 3-3. Then he score again then i score back 4-4. Then suddenly from the corner, cross and then guess who head it? It was Makelele! He head the ball so slow that i bet a turtle will outrun the ball but Coupet just cant do anything about it. He won the match 5-4.

WGT 07:

In the final against [W|nDs] Vin, i got so many chances from 1 on 1 which i am very pro at it. But guess again, all hit the post! Very.. very... arghhhh!!!

Vin won the match and became the 1st WGT FIFA champion.

So there you have it. Even champion do have his unlucky moments. But thru my personal experience i notice that it can be overcome!

How does unlucky happen? Most of it happens because:

Unlucky = Lack Of Knowledges, Lack Of Concentration and Mistakes.

It is also equals to: Your fault!

Take WCG 06 for example. If I didnt pass to Neville i might win the match. But i was to stubborn to pass to him although he was mark closely by a winger. In the end it resulted in the goal.

WGT 07? That is my fault as well. Lack of concentration resulting in the unlucky moments.

So if you are unlucky, dont blame the unknown factor. Blame yourself for your own miserable fate.

But unlucky is good. Now that we know what is the unlucky factor, we can turn it into lucky ^^

I never won any cabutan bertuah in my life. Isnt that unlucky? What is your unlucky moment? ^^

CGS Malaysia Qualifier FIFA 08 Result

Yesterday CGS Malaysia 08 was being held at FTZ Asia Subang Jaya. There were only 14 players took part for the FIFA tourney compare to last year it was more than 40. Maybe due to the lack of promotion and also last minute call up the event couldnt manage to attract more people to joined. But nevertheless it was a successful event.

How was the FIFA format qualifier? 14 players will play in round robin and the top 6 will be selected base on their goal scorings, not winning matches. Meaning if you score more goals than everyone else in the group you will be drafted into the top 6. Since its counted on goals scoring, goals conceding will also be counted as well. So if you score more and also concede a lot then you chances to be drafted is very low.

The qualifier start around 11am and ends at 6pm. To cut it short, here is the top 6 players who got drafted:

[W|nDs] Vin
[W|nDs] Rei
[W|nDs] Jotaro

and the 6th player has been chosen as wild card.

All of this 6 players will undergo tremendous training in the boot camp. From here on the selection will be base on the best of all the top 6 players. The champion will represent KL Taufan and going to battle out skills & wit at China this April. And maybe stand a chance to get the USD 30K worth of contract. So all the best guys!

CGS FIFA 08 Update

At last after a few days of mystery, the tourney format has revealed itself. Here is how it goes:

Eligibility

The CGS 2008 KL Taufan Trials is open to all individuals aged 18 and above. For the 4 different games, the criteria is as follows:

Counter-Strike: Source - Registration as a Team of 5
FIFA '08 - Registration as an Individual
DoA 4 Male/Female - Registration as an Individual
Forza Motorsport 2 - Registration as an Individual

Draft Spots

For each game, Draftees will qualify or be selected to fill the available spots, after the trials:

Counter-Strike: Source - 4 Teams (3 + 1 Wildcard)
FIFA '08 - 8 Individuals (6 + 2 Wildcards)
DoA 4 Male - 4 Individuals (2 + 2 Wildcards)
DoA 4 Female - 4 Individuals (2 + 2 Wildcards)
Forza Motorsport 2 - 6 Individuals (4 + 2 Wildcards)

Qualified or selected Draftees will continue on to the next stage of the selection process, during the boot camp prior to the Pan-Asian Finals.

Different than last year where only the champion will be pick to represent KL Taufan, this year there is a bit of twist. 6 champion and runner up of the group will be pick plus another 2 additional wild card.

What does wild card means? It means the player who has been selected thru wild card will be pick regardless how is the outcome of the qualifier. The candidates is judge base on their previous tourney achievements and good personalities.

Plus this 8 ppl will undergo thru tremendous " FUN" during the boot camp. It is from here that the true champion will be pick out among the 8.

So this year is a bit open to everyone. Since there is 8 spots left to grab better grab this opportunities and show Malaysia what you got! ^^

Possession and Counter Attack.

We all have heard it. You need to have possession in order to score. No possession no goal. While on the other hand believe that as soon as get the ball straight away counter attack. Every time get the ball make sure that its either ended up in your opponent penalty box or in the back of the net.

Both have strong argument. One said that you need the ball to score. The other said get the ball fast into the net. Dont wait for the chances to come. So which is right?

The right thing to do is to use the possession well. No matter how many possession you get even up till 99%, if you donno how to use it the possession is useless. Thats why if you see the match stats sometimes the one who won the match wont have higher possession. Its a prove that the percentage of possession wont make you win. Its how you use the possession that matters. Just imagine every time you get the ball it ended up for a corner or a goal. So if you have 10 possession and 30% ended up in the net, you have 3 goals easily!

So if you like to hold the ball make sure you know what you are doing. If you like to counter attack make sure that the counter attack can produce a goal or at least it ended up for a corner.

In the end its not about quantity but quality ^^

Selected players will be flown to China for Pan Asian trials in April, all expenses paid to represent Malaysia in taking on Korea, Singapore, Dubai, Australia and China. The top two teams out of these 6 county representatives will win a lucrative USD30,000 annual contract per player to play professionally and a berth for the grand finals in the United States and a USD1000,000 purse.

The search for the 10 best players in their field of expertise for the highest stake cyber tournament has begun !! With over USD6.5 million paid out to players in 2007, The CGS ( Championship Gaming Series ) not only offers the highest stakes, it is also the most widely broadcasted, with over 100 million viewers around the world through DirectTV and StarTV cable.

The selection process will cover various genres of cyber games over 2 platforms, PC and the Xbox360. The team will consist of 5 players for Counterstrike Source, 1 player for Fifa, 2 players for Forza 2 and 2 players for DOA 4 (1 male + 1 female).

I am sorry that for the past 3 days i wasnt able to update the blog. I was attending a business motivation seminars. To make it up to it today i will share one of the lesson that i learn during the RM2000 seminar. So better make full use of it!

In US around 1930 if im not mistaken, there was a president asking his minister about the condition of the country. He ask will US will still be on top of the world or will go down in the future. All the minister that he ask most of them said the same thing: US will go up!

One day the president call the minister of education. He give the minister of education USD 3 Billion to make a research to see where will US be in the future. The minister of education when to Yale University and gave the money to the dean to conduct the research.

The dean summon all of the professor and ask them how do we do this research. Some of them said we should research on the economy because economy will determine the wealth of the nation. Some of them said we should research about new technology. Suddenly one of them said " We should research about our people because they are who determine the success of our country.".

Agreed to the last professor they call in 100 man around US in the age of 25. They ask many question such as "What is your dream?" "What is your ambition?" "What is your current status?" and so on and so forth. Every year they will ask the same 100 man of what they are doing rite now. They updated it every year until 30 years since they all will retire when they are 56 years old. Then they compile the report and send it to the president.

Only 1 out of 100 is rich while 4 is financial independent. 5 of them is still working although they are suppose to retire while 27 have died. This report shock the whole nation even some of them cried when they read this report.

The president ask why those who die is no.4 not no.5? The professor answered " We purposely let it be there." President asked why. Then the prof replied "To remind all of us that its better to die then live a useless life." Because of this report US became the most powerful nation in the world rite now.

As you see it is not the country,not the government or not your parent who determine your success. Its you who will determine your own life. Because of this report too another country in Asia who was almost gone from the world became a very powerful country now. Which country is that? It was Japan. When 2 nuclear bomb drop at Hiroshima and Nagasaki everyone thought that Japan is going to be extinct from the world. When this report arrive at Japan around 1970 they start to build up their nation. In just 20 years time they have become one of the most powerful country in the world. No matter where we live rite now, we will always use their product. When we sleep on the aircond its from Japan. When we wanna eat open the refrigerator, its from Japan. Half of Proton car is from Japan. We wear selipar Jepun!

This report was name " The Other 5%" . This report was so powerful that it make an almost extinct nation into a powerful country. So my question is this: Do you want to be in the other 5%? Which position do you want to be? No.1 and no.2? Or no.5?

Only you can decide in which position you wanna be. If you want to be in the other 5% everyday when you wake up and go to sleep shout " I WANNA BE THE OTHER 5%!!!". Shout for x16. Dont just say it. You must shout. Only when you shout your subconscious mind will work. You will feel the energy to be the other 5%. It will force you to go on even if you dont feel like too.

But shouting itself also is useless. DO SOMETHING! Start to build urself up. Dont wait things to happen. Make things happen!

So dont be the other 95%. Be the other 5% ^^

International Selection Part 2

Yesterday we discuss about Brazil and England. Today we continue with our discussion about France and Spain.

a)France

France would be useless without 1 person... the person who was call King during his Arsenal era.. another botak player who rule the world... its King Henry! Henry is France specialty. If this version still have Zidane well its just gonna make things worst does it? Henry can just do so many unbelievable thing. He can score,run,cross,dribble,take corner and free kick. He is the complete player. If someone manage to get him injured, most probably France cant do anything anymore.

Although France is all about Henry, must never underestimate his teammates as well. Viera just frustrate us most of the time. No matter how fast you run he can always tackle you. Not just that if you know how to use him well he can just follow you all day long. Ribery and Malouda is damn cool. The perfect wingers for a team. Although Trezeguet can do some unbelievable thing as well as Henry but personally for me i prefer Cisse do to the fact he respond faster and run faster as well. Just the lack of finishing puts him a little bit down. Coupet is amazing between the stick. One of the most stable consistent performance in the game. Although Thuram is slower than previous version, he is still good if you know how to use him. Well if you dont like him you still have Mexes to replace him. Dont look down on Makelele though. Eventhough his overall is low but for some reason he is as good as any player around.

Since i mention about Makelele can you guys detect what is their 2nd specialty? Its their team chemistry! Even if you put Makelele,Cisse or Thuram for some reason they can play their role well. It makes us wonder if the overall stats should be counted or not during line up selection. I believe that even if you put a player which his overall is 99 but you dont know how to use him it is still useless.

The 3rd specialty for France is everyone is stable. You can feel when you use France that somehow there is a feeling of stability. They maintain the formation very well and good teamwork. Because of this most people call them "The Cheating Team" beside Barca of course. Due to their good teamwork they can create some unbelievable unexpected thing on the pitch.

So if you wanna use France, there are 2 ways to use it. Either you play a teamwork base or solo target man play. When i say solo i believe everyone know who that person is.

So that is why France is very popular among the gamers (Although i feel Henry got something to do with it).

b)Spain

Previously Spain wasnt so popular due to the fact that it is not a fast pace team. Although it has fast player such as Joaquin and Torres, for some reason they cant run or dribble better. But this version is different! Suddenly the whole team changes again because of 1 person. Yup its Fernando Torres!

You can say that Torres is like the young Henry. He can do whatever Henry can do. Maybe for the set pieces he is not as good as him. But if you can unleash a nice long ball for him, you can say bye bye and just wait for the celebration.

If you like to play long ball or thru passes, Spain is for you! They are the long ball team and its their 2nd specialty. Villa and Torres are damn good in out pacing the defender. No matter how fast your defender is they can just beat them easily without any fuss. Plus they are good in the air as well. Its very rare to find fast striker with good heading and also good finishing as well. Although their midfielder seems to be normal but they are the backbone of the team. They can help both in defense and attack as well. An all rounder midfield. Their defense lead by Puyol just make thing worst. Everyone know how Puyol is. He is fast and vicious in the tackle. Its very hard to get thru Puyol. Casillas is an amazing GK. One of the best in the game. Sometime normal goals just dont work with Casillas and he is pretty good in 1 on 1.

Although Torres and Villa is fast but if you manage to defend them very well, they cant do anything. For some reason it seems like Spain depend too much on their striker fast pace. So if you use Spain try to find another style beside long ball.

So there it is! Si_Jali guide to international team. So which team do you wanna use? For me i choose the team that suits me well. It doesnt mean that its the no.1 team you have to use it too. Back in 2005 and 2006 i use England when everyone else use France. Because of England i got no.4 in WCG Grand Final and no.1 in Asian Cyber Games in 06. Then in 2007 i change to France because Beckham getting worst plus the GK is not reliable enough. With France i won CEL Games and WCG Malaysia. So i have a very good memory with both team.

So choose your team wisely. The best combination is when your style mix well with the team. ^^

International Selection

During MMU E-Week there were many favourite team choosen by each player. There were Man Utd, Barcelona, France, Spain, Brazil, England and some Chelsea. Although we can expect that team like Barcelona will be on top of them all, but all the teams has its own specialty.

This specialty was made by EA to make sure that although it is not as good as the other team, it can still compete and can even win other big team as well. There are also certain team which can counter other team as well. And what make this specialty is so unique is that it suits certain play style only. Let say that you like to play with fast pace pressuring then Man Utd or Barcelona would be your favourite choice. Like to play more passing than dribbling, Chelsea would be the best choice. (All the above is just example for playing style, not the definite way of using the team).

So today im going to dedicate today topic with international team specialty. I choose to discuss international because i've more knowledge and experience compare to club. I will do a topic about club too but maybe not in the near future.

Ok so lets start with the 1st team:

a)Brazil

The country of samba! What can i say more? Its touches everyone heart with their attacking style of play plus slickery smooth moves. Plus its the home where all the best footballer in the world came from. Just name it Ronaldinho,Kaka, Ronaldo all are Brazilian.

Ok so what is Brazil specialty? 1st of all what we will notice is their physical appearance. Their defender is noticeably so big and strong. Plus they are fast too. The midfield also have the same appearance.

2nd is their ability to respond and react. Gilberto Silva always help in the defence with its response to attack. Always win and make crucial tackle. Kaka on the other hand always run into the box without even needing to control him. He always give the extra option when attacking. Plus his long shot is as good as in real life as well. There are certain position especially near the box if you power up a little bit can still score from long shot. Robinho and Ronaldinho? Every should have know their ability to dribble. Ronaldo shldnt let him get those rebound balls. If he is in the box he is a very deadly player. Plus his fast too. (I know he is not fast in real life but hey.. its just a game.)

So if you like to play a lot of ground passes with a little bit mix of 1-2 passes and also would like to do a lot of dribble, Brazil is for you. You can also do counter attack long ball because Ronaldo can actually run but there will be problem in terms of his partner. If you play with 2 striker you can either use Robinho or Rafael Sobis or even Ronaldinho but they are not as good as Ronaldo. So use your creativity and decide which style you wanna use.

b)England

Beckham, Beckham and Beckham. What will England do without him? It is the most confusing team in the game. There are too many good midfielder to choose from. We all know that Beckham cant run anymore but he is very good in crossing. Its a big fight for the right flank position. Another fight is in the CM area. Donno why some ppl feel that Gerrard and Lampard cant play together. But we all know Lampard is good. So who should we choose? For the strikers, Bent seems better than Owen but do we want to risk such experience striker? The defender is good with Terry and Ferdinand but the Neville is pretty slow.I donno why some people dislike A.Cole because for me he is good.

It is pretty confusing isnt it? Yeah it is. The line up itself make us lost 50% of our energy just to decide who to play. So i leave the technical part for you guys to decide who should play and who should not. If for me this will be my line-up:

GK: David James
RB: Micah Richard
CD: Ferdinand
CD: Terry
LB: A.Cole
RM: SWP (Yes i ditch Beckham!)
CM: Gerrard
CM: Hargreaves
LM: J.Cole
RS: Bent
LS: Rooney

For me i dont really need Lampard because i dont depend much on long shot. Although Lampard can win tackle but Hargreaves is fast and can do a lot in the midfield. Micah is not bad and can provide alternative for Neville. SWP is faster than Beckham and i do depend a lot on fast wings. Bent is more stable than Owen.

So what is England specialty beside confusing line up? Their striker is good! If the midfield can supply nice ball to the striker, you can say bye bye because they are fast and deadly. So obviously England is a passing team. You can try to dribble but it wont be that effective. Gerrard can also help assist in attack. Another player to watch is James. Dont be fool by his low overall because he can really save the day.

But England depend on the player chemistry. If you field up the wrong line up it can really cost you dearly. So choose wisely depend on your style of play.

So there you go with the first 2 team. Tomorrow i'll talk the next 2 team which is France(Henry!) and Spain(Torres!).

MMU E-Week

Last Sunday 9/03/08 there was a FIFA tourney held by MMU in its MMU E-Week event. There were other games as well such as Dota and CS. As always FIFA still attract most of the crowd with an average 30-40 participants.

The tourney was the 1st FIFA 08 competition for this year. Its the tourney where we can see who has been practicing hard and who has been slacking. Although its still far away to predict who will conquer 2008 but its an early indication on which gamers to watch.

The tourney went smoothly and some of the predicted favorites qualify from their group. As always the favorites are from the veteran and experience FIFA clan, W|nDs and MyFES. One of the surprising result was a newcomer nickname S|xth a.k.a Ariesparda qualify from his group as well. But in the end eventually he lost to [MyFes] Bush due to his lack of experience and composure.

Another match to be noted was between [W|nDs]Al3x vs [W|nDs]Vin. It was a very low scoring match where Vin got the 1st goal. But Al3x manage to equalise last minute in extra time thus bringing the match forward into extra time and eventually ended up in penalties. It was a breath taking match but in the end Vin manage to outclass Al3x. Same goes to [W|nDs]Loonatic vs [W|nDs]Jotaro when they also went into penalties to decide. In the end it was Loonatic who manage to outsmart Jotaro.

The semi final was between [W|nDs] Loonatic vs [W|nDs]Vin and [MyFES]Arroyos vs [MyFES]Bush. Since both match are against each clanmates so you can expect such tight score as well. In the end it was Vin and Arroyos are in the final.

The 3rd and 4th placing match is between Loonatic vs Bush. Although Loonatic was leading with a goal Bush manage to equalize back. With a longball from its own field, Bush manage to outrun Loonatic defend and score a lob goal against Loonatic to secure the win. Although Loonatic have many chance to get back into the game but due to his lack of finishing he couldnt get the important touch.

The final was a very tight match with again the goals didnt come easily. With both having such good attack and defense both of them had manage to subdue each other in almost every situation. In the end it was Vin who manage to clinch his 1st FIFA 2008 CHAMPION title with a score of 2-1.

So the result for MMU Tourney are as follow:

2nd:[MyFES]Arroyos
3rd:[MyFES]Bush

Congratz to all winners and all the participants who have help in increasing the standard of competitiveness in our FIFA community.

Haha i guess you guys have know the answer already from the previous thread. The answer to the riddle is..

CPU a.k.a COMPUTER

I know that CPU can be a little annoying at times. They can do anything that they want. If they are determine to score they will find any way which sometimes exceed our expectation to score. Same goes to defending it seems that they can just follow you everywhere you go no matter what you do. The most frustrating things of all is i know the legendary dribbling past thru all 4 defender without stopping.

So instead of hating them, why dont we join them? Many people dont realize that what the CPU can do WE CAN DO TOO. So how do we ask CPU to teach us? By observing their play.

Take example when CPU are defending. Did you notice that everytime we attack, there will be 1 player stick to you until the end? What this defender is doing is that he is controlling his defending area. CPU will stick to the ground and wait for your move. CPU will never select another player until we pass or change to another player. Their terms of defending is "Stick Like UHU"

Thru observation, we can see that the concept that they use is very simple. Just stick to your ground and dont go anywhere. They play 1 on 1 style defending. This will retain the position and force us to either dribble or pass. It is a very good concept and it does help me personally to understand more on how to def.

Another example is from crossing. The best thing about this game is we can save replay! Save the replay and observe in which position did the CPU choose to cross to the striker. Where is the position of the striker when the cross has been execute? Save a few replay and we can see that they always cross to the striker in certain position. Of course you have to save replays for successful crosses only.

So thru observation, CPU can be our teacher indirectly. Dont get frustrate with CPU. Instead, use the frustration to learn from them. I will wrap this thread up with this slogan:

Whose Your Teacher?

Teacher is a very important expect in our education. Be it in school or life education we will always need a teacher for guidance. A teacher can be someone who is very good in his/her field and has many experience in it. A teacher is also someone who has proven that his/her method is good.

Obviously when we wanna do something new, we will be looking for someone to teach us, a teacher. Call it Sifu or Guru it is still the same. They make our life easier by letting us go thru the 1st phase of learning as fast as possible. They are our stepping stone. Without them we have to do trial and error many times before we can find the right choice. A smart person will always look for someone who is good at what he does to guide him to the same path.

Same as in FIFA, we need a teacher too! I think it is very rare for everyone to find someone who is good in FIFA to teach them about a lot of things. Not just that, many pro players find it hard to share their knowledge to someone else because afraid that it might harm them in the end. But no one realize that everyone have their own personal teacher everyday!

Who am i talking about? This person is someone who the whole world knows. The FIFA teacher is someone that everyone know is very hard to beat, even sometime will trash us. Plus he is always there for 24 hours but no body realize. He can be anywhere in the world and will always follow you where ever you go. What makes it really unique is that the better you get, the harder to beat him. Plus also you dont have to pay him anything. Yup its free!.

So whose this unknown teacher im talking about? I'll let you guys try to guess to see if you can understand the riddle im giving here. Another tip to answer this riddle is you must be highly observant ^^

Man Marking

There is a feature in FIFA that helps in defending. Its call MAN MARKING. It allows gamer to choose from 4 players to auto mark the selected players opponent. With this, gamer has a lot of choice to fully utilize the defending game play.

So who to man mark would be the question rite? Now this depends on the formation your opponent choose.

For example vs 433. The player that should be man mark is the winger. Why? Because 433 rely on the wing to attack. Although it has a lone striker, its very hard for him alone to attack. So the best move is to man mark the winger while manual mark the lone striker. So imagine that CPU is helping you in def by man marking the winger.

Although it seems nice and formidable, must be aware that man marking do have its flaw. When the winger finish running, the def who man mark will leave the winger in an almost offside position. This will allow him to run freely if he gets the correct pass.

There are also some players who dont play man marking. They use ZD instead. But as i said before, there is no definite way in FIFA.

So the man marking rules is simple. Mark the most targeted active player base on formation.

Hopefully this will help you guys to get a lot of clean sheet ^^

What Does "Failure" Mean To You?

Today i was with my mom. Coming back from shopping we have a little conversation going like this:

Mom: You dont want to do any other business? The agriculture industry seems good.

Me: Not at the moment mom. I wanna focus on what im doing rite now.

Mom: I have a feeling that you are going to fail in this business. Its just a small business.

Me: Yup you are right i am going to fail.

Mom: Huh? So why are you still doing it?

Me: Because failing is normal. Its a path to success. I must fail in order to be successful. Its a learning process. Eventhough i am going to fail im going to learn a lot about business from my current business now. Robert Kyosaki lost 3 business before he became what he is rite now.

Mom: What about the money and time you put in it? Its a waste?

Me: Experience and education cant be bought by money. Its more valuable than that. Besides, even if i fail i still get back the initial money i put in and still earn a profit.

Mom: How?

Me: Hehe its a secret ^^.

Mom: Im just worried thats all.

Me: Just believe in me mom. Failure is nothing. No one became a champion in 1 day. Just like FIFA i fail for 5 times only then i am a Malaysia Champion. It took me 5 years to be here. In the end, its all worth it.

And we started to talk about my bro getting married and other family stuff.

So what does failure means to you? does it mean its the end of the world? Or does it mean its the starting of your journey?

Fighting a war could involve more than 100,000 troops and several thousand war chariots and supply chariots for the transportation of provisions over hundreds of kilometres. Not to mention 1 million of dollars spend each day. A protracted war is harmful to the country. Its harmful to the country wealth and also the longer it gets the lower the morale of the soldiers will be.

When the troops are having a protracted war in a faraway place, the rear will not be well defended. Other states will take this opportunity to launch an attack. By then, even a very wise man will not be able to do anything.

So a strategy that may not be sophisticated but which aims to achieve a speedy victory will be beneficial to a country. A war that drags on will only do harm to the country.

So how does we bring this intoFIFA? Remember FIFA is a battlefield. Is where all you earn your pride and dignity. Its the only field where you can prove that your the best of the rest.

When your playing and its still goalless, as time goes by your heart started to pump faster than normal. Pressure rising and you started to send more players up into attack. By doing so you hope that you gonna get the goal. But at the same time we are taking risk in our defense and put ourself vulnerable to counter attack. It might not be a surprise in the end we are going to conceed a goal.

So the longer it takes for you to score to win, the easier and the more vulnerable you get to conceed a goal. The longer it takes for you to win, the higher the pressure will be. Its a known fact that whoever score 1st always have the advantage towards his opponent.

So how do you ensure quick victory? Be the 1st to score!

For example, i've always have a kick off combo to get early goals. In less than 10 min in game i'll definitely try to get the 1st goal. Why? Its crucial of course so that you can keep on pressuring your opponent to make mistake.

So always remember to be the first! Win Quickly! ^^

What will you do if your under pressure? Have you ever do something and prolonged it and then found out its get harder to do? ^^

OFF Form

Remember the days when we are dominating any opponent that we met? Where we can easily win them or beat them at their play or can just close our eyes or yawn because we know we can beat them.

Then suddenly one day...

Everything doesnt seems right! Your finishing turns blunt, your crossing lost its accuracy, you player is nowhere to be found and your GK just forgot that he is the GK etc etc. This is what we call: OFF FORM.

In life there are ups and downs. Sometimes we are on top, sometimes we are not. When we are on form we are the best of all. When we are not, we just cant figure out whats wrong and why cant we live our previous glory day.

So is Off Form normal? Yes it is. Guess what? Off form is a learning process that everyone must go through. For me when im off form, its a meaning that im trying to learn something new. Its like my brain trying to empty my recycle bin in order for me to learn something new. Once my off form gone, im back with a better me.

So if you face off form what should you do?

1. Take a rest from FIFA or whatever you are doing rite now. Maybe around 1 day or 2.

2. Try to watch something related to FIFA such as watching football highlights or watching other people play FIFA in a cybercafe.

3. Once you can feel your heart suddenly pumped and your blood suddenly rush and you just cant wait to play again, thats the perfect timing for you to start again.

So dont take off form as a bad thing. Take off form as a holiday for yourself. Remember that off form is just a learning process to turn you into a better gamer. ^^

Generalist Vs Specialist - Part 2

So after all the discussion we have previously, i think i owe you guys the answer rite? Before that i would like to thank everyone for such a tremendous support to The FIFA Blog eventhough it just started. Hopefully you will keep on continue supporting us as well.

Ok so here it goes..

Now many of you seem to agree that Generalist is the best personality through out the game. While some said that Specialist is the way to go but it has a lot of disadvantage especially from the basic part. But everyone agree that Generalist will consume a lot of time and its very rare. Since both personality have its own advantage and disadvantage, which is the best?

Let me quote from Robert T.Kyosaki Rich Dad Poor Dad:

"You must focus on 1 thing but must know a little of everything"

We take the business world for example. When you have your own business, you as a the business owner a.k.a boss must know everything about accounting,management,promotion and etc etc. Eventhough you are good in sales but without this skills you wont be successful. So how do you learn all of this?

"You must have a strong basic and understand the concept "

No matter how complicated the accounting is or how big your company management is, if you understand the concept there is nothing that you cant handle. Maybe in high school or college you know someone who is quite active with sports and other stuff or someone who always fool around. But everytime when the exam come, he/she will definitely score. Why? Because strong basic and understanding concept.

So in FIFA its still the same. We need to know a little of everything. We need to know how to pass,how to score, how to cross, how to take set pieces, how to def and etc etc. You dont have to know too deep but you just need to know the concept. For example i myself dont really know how to score extraordinary corners and i only know 1-2 tricks in it. But i still can score. Why? Because i understand the concept.

Knowing a little of everything is still not enough. You still need to focus on 1 skills. What skills is this? Of course its the one that you LOVE! If you love to cross, focus on crossing. If you love to dribble, focus on dribbling. If you love to get red card in every game, focus on red cards! (Joking!)

So by applying the concept " Focus on 1 but know a little of everything" you'll have enough basic in all the skills and still have some deadly move underneath your sleeves. Isnt that nice? ^^

So remember, a flower without its leaves is still ugly ^^

A MD must work at least serve 3 years before he is consider good enough to be a specialist. Why? He need to know EVERYTHING ^^

Generalist VS Specialist - Part 1

One of the most debate topic in all our life is either to learn and know everything there is in the world or become specialist in the selected field?

When i was a medicine student, almost everyone wanted to be a specialist. Heart specialist, plastic surgeon etc etc. Why? Most of them answer the question with this "More money lor".

And the only reason why they dont want to be a general doctor is because its a lot of work and low pay. If you are a specialist your patient have to make an appointment with you and you dont have to work 24 hours a day. A general doctor practically have to handle and have to know all types of diseases. Thats why they are general doctor.

So what does this gotta do with FIFA? Many people have this question in mind " Do i need to know everything from passing to set pieces? Or i just focus on 1 thing only?"

Why people have this question in their mind? Its because it takes a lot of time to master the game if we need to know everything. If your a generalist you gonna spend hours a day just to master all the technique. And believe me its a never ending process sometimes. If your a specialist well you save the time of course and you'll be better in certain technique in terms of knowledge of course but you'll have problem when it comes to general knowledge.

So what is the best thing? Which is the perfect type? A generalist will know everything but need to spend a lot amount of time. A specialist will save a lot of time and will be well prepared in certain technique but will have problem in other skills as well. So which is the best personality?

I would like to hear what you guys got to say about this. Which is better? Generalist or Specialist? ^^

Your Play Your Style

Everyone has its own style. Its your personality. The way you walk, the way you move, the way you talk is very unique. You cant find someone similar to you. Well if you do it is still very hard to find.

In FIFA, everyone is unique. Some like to play on the wing. Some like to dribble. Some like to do fancy scoring. And some just like to frustrate their opponent. There are so many ways and style people play out there. And still no one is similar to one another.

So whats your playing style? There are generally 3 type of playing style:

Wing type
Middle movement
A mix both

Wing Type

A wing type player basically likes to play formation that give them movement at wing such as 442,433 and 451. They are very good in crossing and also know how to play the wingback well. They might know a few tricks in dribbling thru the wing cutting into the mid. Most of their source of goals came from crossing. They are the type where many people would say "cheaters" for their unbelievable long cross.

Middle Mover

A middle mover likes to play short quick pass in the centre mid. They favor formation such as 41212 and 433. Their games is base on build up and doesnt play as direct as the wing type. This type of players are very well known for their accuracy in passing, trickness in dribbling and nice long shot. Most of their goals came from 1 on 1 situation produce from their nice build up.

Mix of Both

This type of player enjoy creativity. There is no common movement and is very hard to predict. But because of their focus on creativity, they have to sacrifice efficiency because they have to know all sorts of way to score thus demanding a lot of concentration on the pitch. This type of player is very hard to find and very rare. Most of this type player really have a very nice build up but always lack in the finishing part. Their goals come from all sorts of movement.

After i've explain about the style, try to see which group are you in. Are you happy that your in that group? Or do you wanna change?

You can also see your opponent in which group. It will help more during defending because you are well prepared with his attacking method. If he is a wing type, guard the wing. If he is a mid mover, dont commit your CM. If he is a mixer, make sure you have all your def at the back to pressure him during finishing.

Whatever it is, make sure your STYLO! ^^

Formation

Whats football without formation? I think its the 1st game that introduce formation to the world such as 442, 442 diamond, sweeper etc etc. Football is all about formation. Its part of the game.

Since FIFA is a football game, it still follow the same rules. The most think that everyone has been debating a lot is which is the best formation? Do we have to train only on 1 formation or have 2-3 backup formation?

Im going to give an examples to answer all of this question. Back in 2005 Malaysia was full with 41212 players because it gives flexibility in attack thru the wing and center and defense with a DM. Only a few uses 442 and 433. The best thing about 41212 is it can counter well both 442 and 433. The WCG.MY Champ in 2005 was [W|nDs] Gel who use 41212 while runner up was [W|nDs] Si_Jali use 442.

But in the international level, almost everyone is using 3412 which counter 41212 but didnt counter 442 because the wing is mainly unguarded. The WCG Champ was Styla from Germany and his formation was 442 and the runner is Alexxx from Russia using 3412.

So the year of 2005 was won by 442 even though formation such as 3412 and 41212 was more popular.

In last year 2007, the trend in Malaysia was 442 while 41212 popularity started to drop since 2005. The WCG.MY Champ [W|nDs] Si_Jali and also runner up MyFES. Warrior use 442 as its main formation. In WCG Grand Final the popular formation was 343 and 433.The Champ Hero from Germany use 433 as its main formation.

In both year, all the Champ stick to only 1 formation and never had any back up formation. They use the formation regardless of the trend or popularity. The only reason they use the formation is because:

"They believe in it. They understand its advantage and weakness. And they love it"

So no matter what formation you wanna used, make sure you know all about the formation you choose. Not just that, you must also have a general knowledge of your opponent's formation too so that you can counter him.

Like a famous brand motto goes: " Just do it!" ^^

How To Score?

I think in whatever u do in your game its pretty useless if you just cant score. No matter how fancy your play is, be it you know how to go thru 5 defenders or make an unbelievable look a like Beckham long ball, if you just cant finish it off... its still doesnt count.

So just like crossing there are 3 things we need to look upon:

Position of the striker
Position of the GK
Power and direction of the shot

In FIFA it has always been true that in certain position you can score easily while others just pretty hard to come by. Like a few years ago 1 on 1 seems to be the key point in getting goals. In FIFA 08 it seems like it is pretty hard to score in 1 on 1 but its actually the same like in the previous versions. They just modified it a bit.

You can try this in practice mode:

Walk slowly to the GK.For the 1st try to walk straight no diagonal to the GK (Striker position)
When the GK comes out(GK position), make sure his quite near to you but not too near. At least there is a space for you to still turn around.
When the GK is halfway near just shoot around 60%-70%(Shot Power) to the area where the GK isnt guarding. Far post shld be nice(Shooting Direction). Why halfway? So that your striker have the space to shoot and to let the ball fly to the direction you desire.

Although this is one of the way to score but there are other ways as well. There is no such thing as THE ONLY WAY.As long as the method that you use can let the ball go into the net then use it. So try experimenting it with the GK position or with the power and direction of the shooting. Remember practice makes perfect.

So remember, no matter how you going to score, it always follow the 3 simple rules:

Position of Striker
Position of GK
Power and Direction of Shooting.

Choose Your Battlefield

In Sun Wu Art of War, he said :

"A great commander choose the battlefield which favor him. Choose the battlefield which he know the most and choose the battlefield his opponent has trouble with."

For example, a troop which is on the higher ground will definitely out strength the troops on the lower ground. They can just shoot arrows or roll a big boulder down the hill. The hill is a strategic point.

Just like in the movie "300", the elephant troop cant go thru 300 men because the road is too narrow. Being under pressure, in the end they fall down the cliff.

In FIFA, you need to choose your battlefield. Generally there are 3 type of battlefield:

a. Wing
b. Centre midfield
c. A mix of both

Choose which field you know more but your opponent know less. If you like to play on the wing, attack on the wing. Like to longshot, att thru the mid. The best way to attack is to attack where your opponent weakness is. A pro player know which battlefield he need to choose to attack the opponent weakness.

In order to do this, you must know your opponent before you play with him. Must do a lil bit of research. If you never play with him before, then must analyze him during the game and use the intel in the 2nd half or next game. A General without preparation is the General with the white flag(Surrender!). Another wise saying which resemble this is:

" Failing to plan is planning to fail"

We always hear people said " If you wanna do something, make sure you love it." Why must we do something that we love? Its because no matter what happen we will always stick to what we always love. Come rain or lightning, for love I'll be with you.

So in FIFA where does love come around? I believe this question only you can answer. Maybe you love to do long shot or dribble or crossing etc etc. But whatever it is do what you really love.

"When we do something that we love, it will not be a work. Its just like a hobby : Fun & stress free"

Plus by focusing on what you love, you will know deeper,understand more and be the specialist in that field. Its obvious that only you know more about your gf/bf rather than your frens. Why? Because you love her. You will want to know more about her. If you forgot her birthday I guess you are waiting for the volcano to be explode.(Kaboom!)

If you love to do long shot, obviously you know more than your frens because you are focusing on it. So love is good!

So do what you love. For love will prevail ^^

No Excuses

We as human like to give excuses. Its our nature to find ways to defend ourself. But dont give excuses when you know your mistake or when you know you are wrong.

"Excuses will weaken you. Its like saying to yourself its ok to be wrong because i can give excuses."

I've heard many people giving excuses when they lost. Some say its because of the lag or its because that the opponent play dirty or they say they are just playing for fun ( I guess losing is fun either eh?) or because of disconnection. I too had given excuses before and I have to say deep down inside I know it was my own mistake for not knowing or not being prepare. The one I should blame was only me,myself and I.

Everytime I lost I'll blame myself. Blame myself for not scoring more, for not defending well, for doing mistake etc etc. By not giving excuses, you admit your defeat & know your mistakes. As I said before, a pro gamer lost & correct his mistakes & comeback stronger another day. Why? Because no excuses to success.

Giving excuses = Being ignorant
Being ignorant = Being stupid
Being stupid = No need to say anything lar

"Excuses just make you happy for awhile but miserable forever."

So choose: Short satisfaction or eternal happyness ^^

Thanks for all the nice feedback i receive from the comments here and also at forum Lowyat.net. All of the feedback received i will try my best to input it into the FIFA Blog in the future. Hopefully you guys will like it.

Mr. Star gave a very good suggestion for The FIFA Blog to cover up more into the basic stuff. Into the blood of the game. Something which can help beginner and also benefit the advance player too. In order to be a good player, we must know a little of everything. Must have general knowledge of the game. Focus on 1 thing but must know a little of everything. That is why basic is very important.

So what is the prize? Mr. Star has just won an angpow worth RM50 and also 1 hour tutoring session with me! I will be guiding him in that 1 hour on how to improve more of his game. Realize or not realize (Sedar tak sedar :P) The FIFA Blog has reached 1 week. When i look back at how it started, its amazing to see such effort put in this FIFA Blog.

There are a lot of topic that we discuss here. Some talks about the preparation, the mentality and also the skills. While some just seems to a be a lil bit off the norm.

So im going to make this one an open discussion! Yup now all the readers have the chance to comment on the topic that we have present here at The FIFA Blog.

What we would like to know is what do you guys think The FIFA Blog should improved at? Should it be longer or shorter? serious or funny? all words or with pics?

What is the thing that you like or dislike about the blog? Do you like how it present itself? Do you like the background? Do you like the author? (ehem girls please say yes!)

Its Not Just A Field, Its A Battlefield!

Syukur alhamdulillah The FIFA Blog is now 1 week old. The time pass by really fast. I still felt like its just yesterday The FIFA blog started.

Ok so i got news for you. If you think that FIFA is just a sports game, you are wrong. FIFA is a war strategy game. The field is not just a field, its a battlefield. Its your battlefield!

"Eventhough FIFA is just a game, but we are fighting for something. Be it fighting for fun, for pride or even for bragging rights."

So when your in war, what do you need in war? You need:

a. Generals
b. Troops
c. High tech equipment

a. General

The General is very important in war. They are the brain of the nation. Without them even troops highly trained with high tech equipment will fall. So who is the general in FIFA? Its you!

"A General need to know what his troop good at. He need to know what his troop weakness is. And he also need to know everything about the enemy."

So our job as the general is to know what our players is capable of and what are his weakness.
He must also make decision which benefit the chemistry of the team. Sometime the general must bench the Star player and choose infamous player in order to fit with his strategy for the team. This is a sacrifice that the general have to make.

b. Troops

The troops must be highly train and prepared. A troop with no preparation and no fitness is lose even before the game started.

In FIFA we must choose the best player in his role in the team. If the player play as striker, make sure that he is fast,deadly in finishing and has great composure. If the player play as def, he must be fast and has crunching tackle. So the ability of each player must be sort base on their position.

Sometimes there are also player who are better in certain position. For example, A.Pirlo. Eventhough he is good as CM but he can play better as Winger. So try experiment with players in different position.

c. High Tech Equipment

A country with high tech equipment will conquer any battlefield. They dont have to send troops into the battlefield, they can just strike with high flying invisible plane and bomb the target area. Its a modern warfare.

In FIFA you must choose the best team. The best team is your high tech equipment. A wise general know when to put aside their favorite team and when to use the better team. Its a definite win if you play as Barca against Selangor(Just example!)

So choose wisely my fren. Thus this is your battlefield. The best player is the player who is well equip in all 3 categories ^^

Crossing

This few days we talk about the mind part in the game. Now we gonna touch about the technical part which is crossing.

Crossing is just so nice to do. Once you get it right it just leave to the striker to just head/tap it in. Its one of the best way to score after 1 on 1 situation.

"When we wanna do crosses, it always follow 3 simple rules: "

a. The position of the striker
b. The direction of the cross
c. The power of the cross

eg: A striker is running towards the far post,(position) so its best if we can target the ball infront of him (direction). The power should be more than 50% of the bar(power).

It sounds easy isnt it? Yes it is easy. But the problem is your opponent def will always be there to mark your striker.

So what should you do when someone mark your striker? You drop the ball where there is no defender. Dont worry if your striker is in the box, no matter where you cross, the striker will try his best to be in position. As long as the ball drop in the box of course.

What i would like to do is i always cross early to the striker. Ahead or infront of him. So that the striker will do a running header. You can also do a direct header but make sure your striker is already in position.

There is another thing about position. In certain area once the striker get into position, if you cross no matter if got defender or gk, the striker will definitely win a header. This has been true for all FIFA series. So try to find out which position is the best for your striker.

So remember the 3 simple rules: Position, Direction and Power.

Speaking of festive celebration, why dont we talk about celebration in FIFA?

Football is always about celebration. A celebration of a player, a team and a nation.

We see lots of way people do celebration. Some like to do acrobatics while others just like to run around. And some players.. just dont care that they have scored. Its just a normal routine for them.

But what important was, its not about how you celebrate but its about enjoying the celebration. No matter what we do, we must celebrate.

If you score, you celebrate. If you win, you celebrate. If you lost, well you just smile as a sign of respect.

Why celebration is important? Its good for your soul. Thats all. You need to feel proud in whatever you do. So celebrate. Celebrate for all the time you spent on training. Celebrate for all the important event you miss. Celebrate for all the girls that you couldnt meet. (Man please dont destroy your life because of this).

If you couldnt celebrate, you are just a miserable person. So celebrate!

Afraid To Lost

When we play, there is only 2 things in our mind:

" Am I going to win or am i going to lost?"

If we play someone average, win is in our mind. Play someone pro, lost is in our mind. So what does a pro think in his mind?

" Im not afraid to lost nor am I shy to win"

A pro knows losing is part of success. They knew if they lost, their weakness will be revealed and they can comeback stronger another day. But for normal player, losing is the end of the world. So they are afraid to lost. Because of this they lost the confidence and think too much about losing. Winning? was never in their mind.

That is why there are some people who cant face the fact that they have just lost. When they lost, they just give up. No passion.

So when u play with someone, dont think about losing. Think about learning, improving and winning.

How long do i have to learn? As long as u can breathe ^^

I like "Stronger" by Kanye West. Even he know about this. Thats why he is one of the best ^^

He Who Angers You Conquers You

There is a reason why it is a golden saying. Because it is true. No matter how bad you lost or your opponent play dirty, He Who Angers You Conquers You.

"Anger is a human emotion and a sign of weakness. No matter how good you are, if you are hot tempered, you are doom."

Anger is a human emotion. There is nothing wrong to be angry except if you were wrong of course. But it is also a sign of weakness. That is why we as human always will do mistakes. Because our emotion sometimes can be our weakness.

There are many players out there who follow the Sportsmanship Rules. But there are a few who didnt. I've met both side of players and i've to confess : Its fun! Yup its fun to play against unsportsmanlike player too. Especially those who like to play time wasting. Yes there is nothing wrong in doing such skill but its just pathetic to see as well.

So how do i feel when someone does such thing? I dont feel angry at all. In fact i prefer them to do it. Because they dont know that i know how to counter such thing. There were a lot of time when im a goal down and my opponent try to time wasting. In the end, it was me smiling at the end of the match. Smiles of victory of course.

So why cant you get angry? When your angry, your face turn red and your blood pressure increase. When your blood pressure increase, your heart pump as fast as it can. When your heart pump fast, it explode! (Joking!). In the end, every single lil thing that he do to you, you will just lost your concentration and composure. When you were suppose to think ways to score, the only thing u have in your mind is:

" That fu*k*ng (insert name here), you are such a !@%^%!@#"

And you will be complaining about how bad it is instead blaming on yourself for losing the composure at the end of the game. Remember when you were angry, and your playing according to his rhythm, that show that you just got conquered!

Pritt Pritt Prittt~ And there goes the whistle.

So dont get angry. Senyum sokmo (Smile always) ^^

REVENGE!

Yesterday we discuss about losing. Now we can REVENGE!

"Revenge keeps your mind focus, targeted and motivated. It just keeps you going even if you dont want to."

I take revenge personally. I like revenge. Every year i always make my own revenge list. Not just people who beat me, even people who annoyed me will be in my list. People who also disturb my frens or piss them off will also be in my list.

You might say " Its not good lar.. not nice to keep things inside". For me, you are not a gentleman if you dont push back the person who just pushed you. You need to let people know dont mess with you. If you are so nice people will mess with you anytime they want. So you will be bullied the rest of your life. The same goes to FIFA. Beat the crap out of your opponent so that they will always remember how bad it is to mess with you. This will give a mental attack to your opponent even before he play with you. So you having a mental advantage before the game started.

Beside that, it gaves you an undying energy to keep on going. Your mind will be focus to only one thing : To beat *insert name here* . Plus its fun to see how he react losing to you. It will be your most beautiful moment of all to at last accomplish what you have been "wishing" the whole time.

Believe me i've been there ^^

So its your choice. Either you wanna be a gentleman or you wanna be the real gentleman ^^

Winning & Losing

Everyone hate losing. Its a fact. Everyone like winning. Its a fact too. When someone win, someone got to lost. Another fact. Winning is good but losing is better. This is a fact.

To be honest, i dont like to lose either. Its a worst feeling equal to losing a girl that you love to another guy.(Another lost!) But losing is your best teacher.

" Winning is a poor teacher. We learn the most about ourselves when we fail. Failing is part of the process to success. We cannot have success without failure. An unsuccessful person is a person who never fail."

Through my own journey, I started playing FIFA competitvely in 2003 but it took me around 5 years to bag my 1st WCG FIFA Champ title in 2007. I have fail more than i succeed. Every year there will be somone who is going to stop me. I even shy away when people call me " The Legendary Si_Jali" because i never won any title in Malaysia until 2007.

But i never stop trying and learning. One of the most important attitude to succeed is to never stop learning. In whatever we do, we must never stop learning.

"Then what about winning? Isnt the main point we play is to win?"

If that is your question, yup you are right! Winning is a prove of how good you are. Even if you won by luck, you are still better than the person. But the bad thing about winning is it didnt teach us anything. And we often brag when we win. So in the end we develop a feeling of over confidence over our opponent. People who cant handle losing cant handle winning either. In the end they only enjoy a short success.

So know the difference between winning & losing. The positive and the negative side of both. In the end, it all depends on what you want. Do you want a quick & short journey or do you want eternal success? ^^

The Opening of The FIFA Blog

After all the moment we are waiting for, at last the FIFA Blog has now officially started!

Although there are no grand opening or press conference, we are forever thankful to Allah SWT and for the support from all of you guys from the FIFA community.

Speaking of opening, why dont we start our 1st day with some open tip shall we? ^^

Many people like to play with their own style. Especially in Malaysia, the culture here is more towards dribbling,ground movement & long shot. Guess what? Its good. But at the same time we must BE OPEN.

" Be open means to know the current & latest trend in the playing culture. It also means to open our mind to a better playing style and accept it."

Take our own fashion industry as an example. Batik was known as traditional & old school fashion. But when the late Datin Paduka Seri Endon promote batik and adding batik with a millennium taste, it become fashionable and put Malaysia in the eyes of the world. (I like the Commonwealth song by Ella)

So stick to your style. At the same time be aware of the latest trend and add it up into your game.

That way you will be better than yesterday ^^

Seems that after the #1 FIFA player in the country, Rinie Ramli got back (and this time, staying for good XD) to Malaysia sometime ago, he is busy coming up with ideas to promote competitive FIFA to the masses. First was the W|nDs Youth Academy and this time around, he want to share his FIFA techniques and strategies through his blog.

In a short online chat with him, [W|nDs]Si_Jali - the game nick that many of us more familiar with, said there’s a number of FIFA fansites around the globe but most of the site focus on news and updates of the game, not on how to play the game. By posting his FIFA know-how, he hope that he would be able to attract more players into the competitive community, thus making the scene more productive and friendly.

When I asked why he doesn’t want to open up a dedicated site for this purpose, Rinie said he want to test the waters first. If the receptions are good, then only he will opened up a proper website.

Expect the first of his FIFA Blog post to be online this coming weekend at http://RinieRamli.blogspot.com. It is very rare that a top player want to share his competitive advantages. So, make sure to use this opportunity fully, people.

We try our best to make sure that the blog will be updated daily.

"Short,Simple and Steady." Eventhough our daily tips will be short and simple, but we can guarantee you that it is very informative.

We always believe the more simple the more effective the impact will be.

Our daily tips will be covering a lots of issue about FIFA mainly for the playing part. From skills to strategies, we will cover up all the basic and advance stuff that some might or might not know. (We even will share with you how to use the famous Sun Tzu Art of War into your playing style.)

The daily tips will be given by our very own Malaysia FIFA Champion [W|nDs] Si_Jali. He was ranked no.4 in the world in 2005 and was the WCG Asia Champion in 2006. He also bag 2 Malaysian Champion title (WCG and CEL Games) last year 2007 ranked him no.1 in Malaysia.

With such a profile and experience, hopefully everyone will benefit and improve his game and achieve another level of competitiveness in our FIFA community.
